Today, Mytour will guide you on how to download the audio version of a YouTube video. The most reliable method is to use the free 4K Video Downloader, though you can also visit the online website Convert2MP3 if you wish to download videos without music or copyright content. Please note: these services cannot be used to download audio from YouTube videos that are not available in your country.
Steps
Using 4K Video Downloader
Download and Install 4K Video Downloader. Visit https://www.4kdownload.com/products/product-videodownloader using your web browser, then click the Get 4K Video Downloader link on the left side of the page. The 4K Video Downloader installation file will start downloading; once it’s complete, you can install 4K Video Downloader as follows:
- On Windows — Double-click the installation file, click Yes when prompted, and follow the on-screen instructions.
- On Mac — Double-click the installation file, verify the installation if needed, drag the 4K Video Downloader application icon into the "Applications" folder, and follow the on-screen instructions.
Go to the YouTube video you wish to use. Open YouTube by visiting https://www.youtube.com/ in your web browser, then search for the video you want to download the audio from and click on it to open.
- Ensure you are selecting an individual video, not a playlist (or a video from within a playlist).
Copy the YouTube video URL. Select the entire URL in the address bar at the top of your browser window, then press Ctrl+C (Windows) or ⌘ Command+C (Mac) to copy the URL.
Launch 4K Video Downloader. If the program doesn’t open automatically, click or double-click on the blue-and-white 4K Video Downloader app icon.
- On Mac, you will need to locate the 4K Video Downloader application within the Applications folder.
Click on the Paste Link button at the top-left corner of the 4K Video Downloader window. The YouTube video URL you copied will be pasted here.
Click on the Download Video checkbox. This option appears at the top-left of the window after 4K Video Downloader has found the video. A dropdown menu will appear.

Click on the Extract button in the bottom-right corner of the window. The file will begin downloading to your computer and will be saved in the location you selected.
- If you encounter an error where the video won't download, try downloading the audio file of a different video through 4K Video Downloader without deleting previous downloads. This often resolves the issue.
- If the video cannot be downloaded due to copyright issues, wait a few hours and try again. 4K Video Downloader typically fixes copyright-related errors within the same day.
Using Convert2MP3
Open YouTube. Navigate to https://www.youtube.com/ in your computer's web browser.
- You don't need to sign into your YouTube account unless you wish to download age-restricted videos.
Select the YouTube video. Search for the video you want to download the audio from, then click on the video title to open it.
- Ensure you're selecting a standalone video, not a playlist (or a video within a playlist).
Copy the YouTube video URL. Select the entire URL in the address bar at the top of your browser window and press Ctrl+C (Windows) or ⌘ Command+C (Mac) to copy the URL.
Open Convert2MP3. Visit http://convert2mp3.net/en/ using your web browser.
Click on the first text box located at the top center of the page.
Paste the YouTube URL. Press Ctrl+V (Windows) or ⌘ Command+V (Mac) to paste the address.
Click on the mp3 box. A dropdown menu will appear.
Select the audio format. Click on the audio format you want to use in the "Audio" section of the dropdown menu.
- If you're unsure which format to use, select MP3.
Click the convert button. This orange button is located on the right side of the top input field. The video will be uploaded to Convert2MP3.
- If you encounter an error due to legal restrictions in your country on converting music videos, it means you can't use Convert2MP3 to download audio. Try using 4K Video Downloader instead.
Click on the continue button when prompted. This will assign a tag to the audio file and direct you to the download page.
- You can also click Skip this page (no tags) if you don't want the audio file to be tagged (e.g., artist name).
Click the Download button. This green button is located near the bottom of the page. The audio file of the video will begin downloading to your computer, but you may need to choose the download location first before the process begins.
