Today, Mytour will show you how to download the free demo version of Minecraft for your computer or smartphone, as well as how to get the Bedrock Edition (also known as the version for 'Windows 10') if you already have the Java version. Unfortunately, there is no legal way to download the full-featured Minecraft Java edition for free; if you want to play the complete version, you need to purchase it.
Steps
Download the Demo Version
Open the Minecraft website. Go to https://www.minecraft.net/ in your web browser.

Download the Bedrock Edition on Windows
You need to make sure you have a copy of Minecraft. If you already own a copy of the classic Minecraft, you can download the Bedrock Edition for free.
- If your Mac has a copy of Minecraft, you can also download the Bedrock Edition for free.
Open the Mojang website. Go to https://account.mojang.com/login in your web browser.
Log into your Mojang account. You’ll need to enter your Minecraft email and password, then click Log in. The Mojang account you used to purchase Minecraft will be logged in.
- Make sure you’re logged into the account that was used to buy the original version of Minecraft.
Find the "Minecraft for Windows 10" section. This title will be located in the middle of the page.
Click on Claim your free copy (Get a free copy). This button is located to the right of the 'Minecraft for Windows 10' title. You will be redirected to the Microsoft Store page.
Click on the Redeem button to the right of the Minecraft icon.
- You may be asked to sign in to your Microsoft account first. If so, enter your email address and password to proceed.
Wait for Minecraft to download.Start
Download the Bedrock Edition on Xbox One
You need to make sure you have a copy of Minecraft. If your Xbox One has the classic Minecraft version, you can download the Bedrock Edition for free.
Select the Store tab. Scroll right to the Store tab at the top of the screen, then press the A button on your game controller.
Choose Search and press the A button. This option is located in the middle of the Store screen.
Enter minecraft. You will need to use the on-screen keyboard to type.
Press the button with the ☰ symbol. This button is located below the Xbox One game controller, to the right of the 'Guide' button. Minecraft will be found.
- You will no longer be able to purchase the Xbox One version of Minecraft from the Store.
Select Minecraft and click on the A button. The game will appear at the top of the search results in the Store. The Minecraft page will open.
Click Get (Acquire) and tap the A button. The Get option is located to the right of the Minecraft icon.
Wait for Minecraft to finish installing. Once completed, you can find the game in the My games and apps section.
Tip
- Minecraft Bedrock Edition is no longer available on PlayStation 4.
- If you already have the Minecraft Xbox One version, you may be prompted to upgrade to the Minecraft Bedrock Edition when you open the game.
