This guide shows you how to download music from Spotify for offline listening. To download music, you'll need to create a playlist, but mobile users can also download albums. If you want to save Spotify music as MP3 files on your computer, you can attempt to copy the songs, but this would violate Spotify's terms of service and copyright laws.
Steps
On Mobile Devices
Make sure you have a Spotify Premium account. Music downloads for offline listening are only possible with a Spotify Premium account.
- Your device must also be connected to Wi-Fi to download songs from Spotify—downloads aren't available over mobile data.
Open Spotify. Tap the app with the three horizontal black bars on a green background. This will take you to the Spotify homepage if you're logged into your account.
- If you’re not logged in, tap LOG IN, and enter your Spotify account email address and password.
Tap the Your Library tab at the bottom right corner of the screen.
Tap the Playlists tab at the top of the iPhone screen or the middle of the Android screen. This opens the Spotify playlist list.
- You can also select Albums on this page.
- If you want to download all the songs in your library on Android, tap Songs here, and skip the next step.
Select a playlist. On the "Playlists" page, tap the playlist that contains the song you want to download.
- If you’re on the Albums page, choose an album.
- Once the song download is complete, you will see a downward arrow next to the song.
Listen to music offline on Spotify. Even without an internet connection, you can still open Spotify, tap on the Your Library tab, navigate to the folder containing the song you want to listen to, and tap the song to play it.
On a computer
Make sure you have a Spotify Premium account. Offline listening is only available with a Spotify Premium account.
- Your device also needs to be connected to Wi-Fi to download music from Spotify—you can't download songs using mobile data.
Open Spotify. Click or double-click the Spotify app with the three horizontal black bars on a green background. This will open the Spotify homepage if you're logged into your account.
- If you're not logged in, click LOG IN, then enter your email address and password for your Spotify account.
Select a playlist. In the "PLAYLISTS" section on the left side of the window, click on the name of the playlist you want to download.
- However, you cannot download albums when using the Spotify app on a computer.
