Today, Mytour will walk you through the steps of downloading PowerPoint. Microsoft PowerPoint is a presentation tool included in the Microsoft Office suite, which you can download and install on your computer, smartphone, or tablet.
Steps
Install the mobile app

- The mobile app has certain limitations. For example, on an iPad Pro with a 12.9-inch display, you need to subscribe to the appropriate Office package to view and edit files in desktop mode using the iPad.

Search for the keyword PowerPoint. In the Google Play Store, the search bar is located at the top of the screen; while in the App Store, the search tab is at the bottom of the screen.

Click on the first search result. This is typically the official app developed and provided by Microsoft Corporation.

Tap the Install (Android) or Get (iOS). While the app is free, signing up for a Microsoft Office account unlocks additional features.
Download PowerPoint on your computer
Visit the Microsoft Office product page at https://products.office.com/en-us/buy/compare-microsoft-office-products. This page offers various Microsoft Office packages for both Windows and Mac, including PowerPoint.
- To avoid downloading malware, always obtain the software from a trusted website.

Select the appropriate Office plan. You can purchase a one-time Office package for your home computer, or subscribe to a monthly plan for one or more devices.
- Click on Try for Free to enjoy PowerPoint free for 30 days. After the trial period, your credit card will be charged monthly for the Office subscription.
- Visit the Office setup page at https://setup.office.com/ and enter the 25-character product key if you've previously purchased a Microsoft Office plan. You can find the product key in the confirmation email sent after your payment, or on the Office product packaging.

Log in with your Microsoft account. You must log in to download and install PowerPoint.
- If you don’t have a Microsoft account, select to create one and follow the on-screen instructions to set it up.

Click on the Install (Install). Then, choose to save the Office setup file to your computer.

Double-click the Office setup file. The setup wizard will open, allowing you to install Office and PowerPoint on your computer.

Follow the steps in the Office setup wizard. PowerPoint will be installed by default as part of the Microsoft Office package.
- Once the setup file is downloaded, follow these steps depending on your computer’s operating system:
- Windows: Double-click the setup file and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Mac: Double-click the setup file, confirm the installation if necessary, drag the PowerPoint app icon to the "Applications" folder, and follow the on-screen instructions.
- If you encounter issues during download or installation on Windows, try stopping the print spooler service. This may help, as Office often freezes at 80-90% due to a conflict with the print spooler. To do this, click the Start menu, type “services.msc” in the search bar, then click "Print Spooler" to open it and select Stop.
Troubleshoot on your computer

Repeat the Microsoft Office setup if you can access all Office apps except PowerPoint. By default, PowerPoint is included in all Microsoft Office versions. However, if you deselected this app during the initial Office setup, your computer will be missing PowerPoint. The following troubleshooting steps apply to both Windows and Mac computers.
- Open the Microsoft Office folder on your computer, double-click the Setup file, and follow the on-screen instructions in the setup wizard to install PowerPoint.

Restart your computer if Office gets stuck at 94% during installation. This is a common issue when users download and install Office directly from the internet.

Repair Office if the setup freezes at any stage. This will help fix any compatibility issues between Windows and Office.
- Open the Control Panel and select Programs and Features.
- Select PowerPoint from the “Uninstall or change a program” window.
- Click Change, choose Online Repair, and click Repair.

Update your operating system or computer if you encounter problems while installing PowerPoint. Microsoft Office no longer supports computers running Windows Vista, XP, or older versions of macOS that are more than three versions behind the latest releases.

Disable all add-ins and plug-ins if you click 'Install' but can't complete the Office installation. Sometimes, add-ins and plug-ins can interfere with the installation process of Office.
Recommendation
- If you prefer not to purchase or install the full Office suite, consider using Apache OpenOffice or Google Slides as an alternative to PowerPoint. Both programs offer similar features and are free and accessible to all users.
