Today, Mytour will guide you on downloading games to your PSP. The PSP gaming console supports both PSP and PS1 games. To download PSP games, ensure your PSP has the latest firmware installed. Additionally, you’ll need to install custom firmware and connect your PSP or Memory Stick Duo to a computer. Warning: Installing custom firmware and ISO files may affect your PSP. Be aware of the risks before proceeding.
Steps
Prepare Your PSP
Update the PSP firmware. Before starting, ensure your PSP is running the latest firmware version - 6.61. The PSP can connect to the internet, allowing you to update directly by selecting System Update in the Settings menu. Alternatively, follow these steps:
- Download the latest firmware version to your computer.
- Connect your PSP to the computer via USB or use a Memory Stick Duo.
- If your computer lacks a card reader, use an external card reader or purchase a micro-SD to Memory Stick Duo adapter for the PSP, along with a micro-SD USB converter for the computer.
- If using a new memory card, go to the Settings menu on your PSP and select Format Memory Stick to prepare it for use.
- Open the "PSP" folder on your PSP or Memory Stick Duo.
- Navigate to the "GAME" folder within the PSP directory.
- Create a new folder named "UPDATE".
- Disconnect your PSP from the computer or reinsert the Memory Stick Duo.
- Select the Game menu on the PSP home screen (XMB interface).
- Choose "Memory Stick" from the Game menu.
- Select Update File.
Install custom firmware on your PSP. To install the latest custom firmware, you need to download the custom firmware for PSP firmware version 6.61. Follow these steps to install custom firmware on your PSP:
- Visit this website.
- You can also search for PSP 6.61 cfw on Google.
- Scroll down and click the link Download the PSP 6.61 PRO-C2 custom firmware.
- Connect your PSP to the computer using a USB cable, or insert the Memory Stick Duo into a card reader or USB adapter.
- Open the "PSP" folder on your PSP or Memory Stick Duo.
- Open the "GAME" folder within the PSP directory.
- Extract the contents of the custom firmware folder "PSP 6.61 Pro" and copy them into the Game folder.
- Disconnect your PSP or reinsert the Memory Stick Duo into the device.
- Select the Game menu on the PSP home screen (XMB interface).
- Launch the "Pro Update" application from the Game menu.
- Restart your PSP.
Launch "Fast Recovery" from the Game menu. You’ll need to perform this step every time you restart your PSP to reactivate the custom firmware.
Find Download Sources
Search for websites offering PSP ISO files. PSP ISO files are disc images used by PSP games. Many websites provide PSP disc images. You can search for PSP ISOs on Google to find websites offering PSP ISO files.
- Some websites to consider: Emuparadise, Free Roms, or Roms Mania.
- Warning: Many free game and ROM websites often contain viruses and malware. Ensure your computer has updated antivirus software before downloading PSP ISOs or ROMs. Run a virus scan after downloading games to your computer.
Find games to download. Many websites list games alphabetically, allowing you to browse through them. Alternatively, you can use the search bar to look for specific game titles.
Download the game ISO file to your computer. Once you’ve selected a game, click on its title. Then, choose a download link. You can select a specific download source or a backup link. After clicking the link, the file will begin downloading.
- Some games are split into 3-4 parts depending on their size. In this case, you’ll need to download all parts.
Transfer the ISO File to Your Gaming Device
Connect your PSP or memory card to the computer. You can link your PSP to the computer using a USB cable, insert the Memory Stick Duo into a card reader, or use a USB adapter.
Create a new folder named "ISO" on your memory card or PSP. This is the folder where you’ll copy your PSP games.
Extract the PSP RAR file on your computer. PSP games are often downloaded in RAR format. The RAR file contains the game’s ISO disc image. You’ll need extraction software, such as WinZip or WinRAR, to unpack the RAR file.
- You can extract RAR files for free using 7-zip.
the ISO file to the "ISO" folder on your PSP or Memory Stick Duo. Once the ISO file is extracted, copy its contents into the ISO folder on your PSP or Memory Stick Duo.
- If the game has multiple ISO files, copy all of them into the ISO folder.
- If you’re downloading a PS1 game, copy these files into the "PSP" folder on your PSP or Memory Stick Duo instead of the ISO folder.
Disconnect your PSP or Memory Stick Duo. After copying the ISO files to the ISO folder, safely disconnect your PSP from the computer or remove the Memory Stick Duo and reinsert it into your PSP.
Select the "Game" menu on your PSP. Use the XMB interface to navigate to the "Game" menu.
Choose Memory Stick. This folder contains all the games you’ve installed on the memory card.
Select the downloaded game to launch it. If installed correctly, the game will appear in the list of available games. You can open it just like any other game on your PSP.
Tips
- Assuming a download speed of 100 MB per hour, a 212 MB file will take approximately 2 hours or more to download.
Warnings
- Some download files may take a considerable amount of time to complete (average speed is around 100 MB per hour).
- Some downloaded files may contain viruses. Always scan files using antivirus software.
