Here are some steps to guide you through three different methods of drawing a horse. First, gather your materials: paper, a pencil, and colored pencils. Now, let’s get started!
Steps
Drawing a Cartoon Horse
Start by drawing a large circle with a cross inside. At the bottom of the circle, draw a smaller oval-shaped circle.
Draw a diamond shape tilted on each side at the top of the large circle.
Draw a slightly rectangular oval shape that is somewhat perpendicular to the large circle.
Add four legs beneath the oval shape to outline the horse’s body.
Draw the tail at the rear of the horse.
Add the horse’s mane using smooth, curved lines.
Sketch the eyes, nose, and mouth by using the cross inside the large circle to ensure balance.
Draw two curved lines extending from the small circle to make the nose appear protruding.
Darken the outline of the horse’s body and add details to shape the legs.
Erase any unnecessary lines.
Color in the drawing.
Draw a rearing horse.
Start by drawing an oval shape for the horse's head.
Draw another oval to create the horse's muzzle. Make sure to leave room for the nostrils.
Sketch the ears and mouth.
Draw a large oval for the body, which will be the biggest part of the drawing. This oval should be larger than the others.
Draw two curved lines to form the neck.
Sketch two ovals connected to two curved trapezoids to make the front legs, then add a curve below the feet for the hooves.
Draw two circles to form the thighs.
Sketch two lines connecting to the trapezoids to form the back legs, and add a curve below the feet for the hooves.
Draw curves to create the mane and tail.
Use the sketch lines as a guide to complete the drawing.
Erase any unnecessary lines.
Color your drawing!
Draw a galloping horse.
Sketch an oval shape to form the horse's head.
Draw a curve on the left side of the oval to form the mouth.
Sketch two additional ovals to form the middle part of the horse's body.
Draw two circles on either side of the oval to complete the outline of the horse's body.
Draw two curves connecting the body to the head, and add another curve on top of the head to form the ears.
Draw four elongated ovals for the legs.
Draw four pairs of circles attached to the two ends of the rectangle to form the legs, and sketch ovals to create the hooves.
Draw the remaining lines to complete the horse's mane and tail.
Use the sketch lines to complete the horse's drawing.
Erase any unnecessary lines.
Color the picture!
Draw a realistic horse (Part 1)
Draw two circles at an angle. The bottom circle should be smaller than the top one. Connect the two circles with a rectangle.
Draw a curve connecting the two circles on one side. Sketch the horse's neck.
Draw the ears on top of the horse's head.
Use the shapes you've drawn to outline the horse's face.
Add the eyes using almond-shaped forms and draw the nose.
Draw the horse's mane using random curved lines.
For a more realistic look, add soft, short strokes on the face and shade the areas.
Erase the unnecessary sketch lines.
Color the drawing.
Complete the drawing.
