Dried mushrooms are a favorite for many due to their rich flavor, versatility in various dishes, and long shelf life. You can dry mushrooms and use them to make soups, Italian Risotto, pasta, or a variety of other delicious meals. Here’s how you can dry mushrooms at home on your own:
Steps
Drying Mushrooms in an Oven
Wash the mushrooms thoroughly before drying them.

Slice the mushrooms. The thicker the mushrooms, the longer they will take to dry. To speed up the drying process, slice the mushrooms into thin pieces about 0.5 cm thick. Thinly sliced mushrooms dry faster while still preserving their wonderful flavor for cooking.
Place the mushrooms on a baking tray.

Preheat the oven to 65°C. Once the oven has reached the desired temperature, place the tray with the mushrooms inside and dry them for about 1 hour.

Remove the mushrooms from the oven after one hour. Then, flip the mushrooms over to ensure they dry evenly. At this point, use a paper towel or a damp cloth to wipe off any moisture that may have accumulated on the mushrooms during the drying process.
Place the mushrooms back into the oven.

Check the weather conditions. The natural drying method for mushrooms should only be used when the weather is sunny or the humidity is low. High humidity will cause mold to grow on the mushrooms, and they will take longer to dry.

Find a suitable location for drying. Choose a room that gets plenty of sunlight, a windowsill, or a well-ventilated balcony. Additionally, ensure the location is free from birds, animals, insects, and excess moisture that could affect the mushrooms.
Arrange the mushrooms for drying.

Place the mushrooms in the drying area.
Drying Mushrooms Using the Freezing Method

Place a paper towel on a flat surface. Next, arrange the clean, sliced mushrooms on the towel. Ensure the mushrooms are laid out in a single layer, without overlapping, to avoid sticking. Also, make sure the mushrooms are dry, as any remaining moisture could freeze into ice and spoil the mushrooms.

Place another layer of paper towel on top of the mushrooms. Continue layering the mushrooms alternately with paper towels.

Place the mushrooms, layered with paper towels, into a paper bag. The mushrooms and paper should fit snugly into the bag. The bag should allow some airflow to help the mushrooms dry out as they freeze.

Put the paper bag in the freezer. Over time, the mushrooms inside the freezer will begin to dry out. This method takes longer for the mushrooms to dry, but it is more effective, especially when you don't plan on using the mushrooms right away.
