This article provides a step-by-step guide on enabling cookies in the Safari browser for Mac or iPhone. Cookies are small files stored by Safari on your computer or smartphone, designed to enhance your browsing experience by making it more personalized and convenient.
Steps
On Desktop

Launch Safari. Click on the Safari app icon, which features a blue compass, located on your Mac's Dock.

Click on Safari. This menu is located in the top-left corner of the screen. A dropdown menu will appear.

Click on Preferences…. This option is near the top of the dropdown menu. The Safari Preferences window will open.

Click on the Privacy tab. This tab is located at the top of the Preferences window.

Check the box for "Always allow". This option is under the "Cookies and website data" section. This step enables cookies in your Safari browser.
- You can also select a more restrictive option, such as "Allow from websites I visit," to reduce the number of third-party cookies on your computer.
On iPhone

Scroll down and tap Safari. This option is located about one-third of the way down the Settings page.

Scroll down to the "PRIVACY & SECURITY" section. You’ll need to scroll about halfway down the page.

- If the "Block All Cookies" toggle is white, it means cookies are already enabled on your iPhone's Safari browser.
Tips
- After enabling cookies, you’ll typically gain access to more websites (those that require cookies to function or display properly).
- Despite their bad reputation, cookies are not harmful.
- Learn how to enable cookies on an iPad as well.
Warning
- Typically, the primary role of cookies is to help websites remember your login details. While this is a useful feature on personal computers or iPhones, you should limit their use on public computers or shared devices.
