This article provides a step-by-step guide on how to enable pop-up windows (separate windows that usually appear automatically) like ads and notifications on your web browser. While they can be annoying, pop-ups are crucial for certain websites to function properly. The process of enabling pop-ups can be done on browsers like Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari on both desktop and mobile versions, as well as Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer on Windows computers.
Steps
Google Chrome on Desktop
Click on the ⋮ in the top-right corner of the page to open the options menu.

Google Chrome on Android
Tap on ⋮ at the top-right corner of the screen to open the options list.
Tap on Settings (Settings) below the options list.
Tap on Site Settings (Page settings) located near the bottom of the screen.
- You may need to scroll down the slider to locate this option.
Tap on Pop-ups located at the center of the screen to open this page.
- If the "Pop-ups" slider is green, pop-ups are enabled.
Firefox on computer
Launch Firefox with the orange fox icon encircling the blue globe.
Click on the ☰ at the top right corner of the window to open the menu list.
Click on the Options (Settings) in the middle of the menu list to open Firefox's settings menu.
- On a Mac, click Preferences (Preferences).
Click on the Privacy & Security tab on the left side of the window.
Scroll down to the "Permissions" section. You'll find this title towards the bottom of the "Privacy & Security" section.
Uncheck the "Block pop-up windows" box near the bottom of the "Permissions" section. This disables the pop-up blocker for your Firefox browser.
- Alternatively, click on Exceptions... to the right of the "Block pop-up windows" box, enter a website address, click Allow, and then click Save Changes to enable pop-ups for specific pages rather than the entire site on your browser.
Firefox on iPhone
Open Firefox. Tap on the Firefox app with the orange fox icon wrapped around the blue globe.
Tap on the ☰ at the bottom of the screen to open the options list right there.
Tap on Settings (Settings) with the gear icon in the menu that just appeared.
Firefox on Android

Click on Toggle (Toggle) at the bottom right corner of the dom.disable_open_during_load box. This action will change its current value to "false", which will then display in the lower-left corner of the box. As a result, pop-up windows will no longer be blocked.
Close and restart Firefox. Once Firefox is reopened, the pop-up windows should be visible.
On Microsoft Edge
Launch Microsoft Edge by clicking the blue "e" icon.
Click on ⋯ in the upper-right corner of the Edge window to open the options menu.
Click on the Settings (Cài đặt) button below the options list to open the Settings menu on the right side of the page.
Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and select View advanced settings (Xem cài đặt nâng cao) near the end of the options list.
On Internet Explorer
Launch Internet Explorer by clicking the blue "e" icon wrapped with a yellow ribbon.
Click on Internet options (Các lựa chọn Internet) in the middle of the options list to open this window.
Click on the Privacy tab located at the top of the Internet Options window.
Uncheck the box for "Turn on Pop-up Blocker" located in the middle of the window, right below the "Pop-up Blocker" heading. This action will enable pop-ups to appear in Internet Explorer.
- If the box is unchecked, Internet Explorer is allowing pop-ups.
- You can also add specific pages to the exception list by clicking on Settings next to the "Turn on Pop-up Blocker" title, entering the page address in the top field, and clicking Add.
Click on the Apply button, and then select OK. Both options are located at the bottom of the window. This will apply the changes to Internet Explorer and close the Internet Options window.
Safari on Mac
Launch Safari by clicking on the application with the compass icon in your Mac's Dock.
Click on the Safari menu in the top left corner of your screen to open the selection list.
Click on Preferences… near the top of the menu to open a new window.
Click on the Security tab at the top of the window.
Uncheck the box labeled "Block pop-up windows" in the "Web content" section of this menu to disable Safari's pop-up blocker.
Close the window and restart Safari to save the changes. Now you should be able to view pop-ups in Safari.
Safari trên điện thoại
