Why spend a lot of money on sugar-based exfoliating products when you can easily make one at home with minimal preparation? A sugar scrub is ideal for exfoliating without drying out your skin, unlike salt scrubs, and it avoids the environmental harm caused by scrubs made with microbeads.
Steps
Exfoliate with Olive Oil and Sugar

Prepare a container. You will need a small jar to mix and store your exfoliating scrub. Find a clean container with a lid that can hold enough for several days of use.
- This recipe makes about 2/3 cup of scrub, but you can double the quantity if needed. Choose a jar size accordingly.

Pour oil into the jar. Add 3 tablespoons of olive oil to the container.
- You can also include 1-2 vitamin E oil capsules if you want to enhance the nourishing benefits for your skin. Simply puncture the capsules and squeeze the oil into the mixture. However, if you do this, remember to let the scrub sit on your skin for a few minutes before rinsing.
Add honey. Now, incorporate 2 tablespoons of honey. Any type will work, but thicker honey is preferable.
Add sugar. Pour in 1/2 cup of sugar. Any type of sugar can be used, but raw sugar provides the coarsest texture, while white sugar is gentler. Brown sugar offers a balance between the two.

Mix thoroughly and use as needed. Now that all the ingredients are in the jar, combine everything well. If the mixture seems too wet, add a bit more sugar. If it’s too dry, add another half tablespoon of olive oil.
- Store the final product on a shelf or in a cabinet. Refrigeration may cause the mixture to harden.
