This article provides a step-by-step guide on how to find a website's IP address. You can do this by using the built-in "traceroute" function available on your computer or by downloading a free traceroute app for iPhone or Android.
Steps
On Windows

Type command prompt in the Start search bar to find the Command Prompt app on your computer.

Type ping followed by a space, then the website address (including the "www.") and add another space followed by -t.
- For example, to find the IP address of Google, you would enter ping google.com -t in Command Prompt.
- Make sure to enter the correct domain suffix (e.g., ".com" instead of ".net").
- Ensure there is a space between ping, the website name, and -t.

Press ↵ Enter to execute the command.
On Mac

Open Network Utility. Double-click on Network Utility near the top of the search results to open this window.

Click on the Traceroute tab at the top of the Network Utility window.

Enter the website address. Type the address of the website you want to find the IP address for in the input field at the top of the window.
- For example, to find the IP address of Google, you would type google.com here.
- You do not need to enter "https://" or "www." in the website address field.

Click on the blue Trace button on the right side of the page.

Note the website's IP address. You will see the IP address in parentheses next to the line "traceroute to [website]"; this is the website's IP address.
- For example, when searching for Google's IP address, you will see "traceroute to google.com (216.58.193.78)" here.
On iPhone
Download iNetTools from the iPhone App Store as follows:
Open the App Store
Launch iNetTools by tapping OPEN (Open) displayed in the App Store, or by tapping the iNetTools app icon.

Tap the Trace Route (Find Route) located near the center of the screen.

Tap the address bar below the "Server" title near the top of the screen.

Enter the address. You will type the address of the website for which you need to find the IP address (for example, google.com for Google's site).
- No need to add www. in the address.

Tap on Start (Start) at the top-right corner of the screen.

Note the IP address. You will see the IP address in parentheses next to the line "traceroute to [website]" below the "Result" heading; this is the IP address of the website you're searching for.
- For example, if searching for the IP address of Google, you will see "traceroute to google.com (216.58.193.78)" here.
On Android
Download PingTools Network Utility as follows:
Open the Google Play Store app.
Launch the PingTools Network Utility by tapping OPEN (Open) in the Google Play Store, or by tapping the PingTools app icon.

Tap the ☰ icon at the top left corner of the screen to open the menu.

Tap the Traceroute option near the middle of the menu to start.

Enter the website address. You will need to tap the address bar at the top of the screen and type in the website address to find the IP address (for example, google.com for the Google website).
- Do not include www. in the address.

Select TRACE (Search) at the top right corner of the screen.

Note the IP address. You will find an IP address beneath the header "Traceroute to [website]"; this is the IP address of the website you're searching for.
- For example, when searching for Google's IP address, you will see the line "Traceroute to Google" with the IP address "216.58.193.78" listed underneath.
Tip
- You can enter the website's IP address into the browser's address bar to access the site directly. This method may sometimes help bypass web filters or parental controls.
- While not all websites allow you to view their IP address, using the "traceroute" command instead of the "ping" command will prevent websites from giving inaccurate addresses.
Warning
- Avoid searching for the IP addresses of restricted or official websites, such as those belonging to government entities.
