Iron is incredibly useful and can be crafted into various tools in the game. Luckily, it's quite abundant! Here are some tips to help you find iron ore in the game.
Steps

Bring a wooden pickaxe. The first pickaxe you'll craft is made from wood, and it's used to mine stone.

Bring a stone pickaxe. Stone is essential for breaking iron blocks and collecting the material.

Bring a torch. You’ll need a torch to eliminate the darkness and help you navigate when visibility is low.

Bring plenty of dirt.
Carry a good amount of dirt, at least 80 blocks. Dirt will be useful to help you escape the cave where you’re mining.

Find the right cave. Caves are the best place to find Iron Ore. They typically contain several veins at once. Don't waste time digging straight down from the surface as it offers very little chance of success.

Check all the blocks surrounding the iron you just discovered. Iron tends to appear in veins, so if you find one, there are likely more nearby. Also, make sure to check the diagonal blocks. A typical vein size is 2x2x2 blocks.
- Iron looks like light pink or peach patches on gray stone.

Use torches when necessary. Place them strategically where you need illumination.

Pay attention to your depth. Use a map or debugging tool to check the 'Y' axis, which shows your current level. Remember, Iron Ore only spawns between levels 1-63.

Use a furnace to smelt Iron Ore into ingots. The furnace will cause the coal to sink to the bottom, while the Iron Ore rises to the top.

Use the smelted iron to craft better tools and armor. Now, enjoy the game!
Tips
- Looking around in natural caves gives you the best chance of finding iron.
- Avoid digging in sand or gravel, as they will collapse and suffocate you.
- Keep torches lit while mining.
- Only mine Iron Ore with a stone pickaxe as it is more effective. Using a wooden pickaxe or your hands won’t yield anything.
- Iron is essential for crafting many things you’ll need in the game. How quickly you find it is important.
- Try the seed coordinates 8675309 for a fresh experience. Fly up and you'll notice a land area with exposed coal, iron, and a water area. You can walk around it in survival mode (only 20 blocks ahead or to your right), and also live there! There are 7 visible iron blocks and several coal blocks. Plus, there's an iron block in a pond next to you – it’s a pond, not a sea. Additionally, there are 13 sheep on the grassland, so you don’t need to go anywhere. They’ll mature in a minute. Enjoy the game, and you'll have plenty of resources below the stone blocks!
- If you create a pit allowing monsters in the cave to approach and fall, both you and the monsters may struggle to get out.
Warning
- Don’t dig straight down, you might fall into lava.
- You may encounter aggressive mobs in the caves.
