This article will guide you on how to locate the URL of a website. The URL serves as the website's address, which you can find in your browser's address bar. Alternatively, you can discover the URL of a link by right-clicking and copying the link.
Steps
Access https://www.google.com through your browser. You can use any browser of your choice, then visit Google's homepage by entering the link https://www.google.com into the browser's address bar.
Enter the name of a website. Click on the text input bar below Google's logo and type in the website's name.
Press the ↵ Enter key. This action will initiate a search and provide you with a list of websites matching your query.
Right-click on the link. Links are the blue text lines that, when clicked, open a webpage. Right-clicking will display a popup menu next to the link.
Click on the Link Address option. This will copy the link address to your clipboard. You can perform this action with any link on the internet.
- If you're using a touchpad or trackpad on a Mac, you can right-click by tapping with two fingers.
Open a text editing software. You can use any text editor of your choice, such as Notepad on Windows or TextEdit on Mac.
- To open Notepad on Windows, click the Windows start icon at the bottom left of your screen, type Notepad, and select Notepad. Its icon is a blue notepad.
- To open TextEdit on Mac, click the Finder app, which has a blue and white smiley face icon. Then, click Applications and select TextEdit. Its icon features a pen and a sheet of paper.
Right-click on the text cursor in the text editing software. This will display a popup menu next to the cursor.
Click the Paste button to insert the URL into the text editing software.
- You can also verify the URL of any webpage you're visiting by clicking on the browser's address bar. The address bar is the long white bar at the top of the browser window, located below the tabs. Sometimes, you may need to click on the URL text to view the entire address.
