Fixing a leaking screen on your computer or phone at home is actually quite simple, but not everyone is familiar with the basic techniques. In this article, Mytour shares an easy method for repairing a leaking screen at home.

1. Causes of a leaking screen
A leaking screen is a common issue on devices like phones, computers, televisions, or any other display screen. There are several different causes that can lead to a screen leaking, both external and internal. Among these, the most frequent cause is related to the following problems:
- The screen suddenly develops leaks (rarely encountered).
- The screen falls or gets hit (common cause).
- The screen is pressed inside a pocket, handbag, or is squashed by hands or foreign objects (common cause).
- The screen becomes damp, is exposed to water, or the screen adhesive comes off (rarely encountered).
- The screen is of poor quality, or the screen replacement was done improperly.
Apart from the common causes mentioned above, there are several other reasons why a phone screen might leak. In cases where the screen leaks, you will notice dark, purple, or blue spots, which can be quite disturbing.
- A leaking screen shows dark, blue, or purple spots, similar to spilled ink.
- The ink stains on the screen may spread and shift positions over time.
- Typically, these leaking spots will appear at the edges of the screen.

2. How to fix a leaking screen at home
A leaking screen is a minor issue that can usually be fixed without the need for a full screen replacement, unlike the case of screen stripes. Depending on the severity of the problem, you can fix it anywhere from 80% to 100%. If it's not fully repairable, the methods below can at least make the ink stains less noticeable and more bearable.
Preparation:
- Screen cleaning solution (alcohol, glass cleaner, or purified water…)
- Soft cloth (chamois, cotton, screen cleaning cloth, glass cleaning cloth, lens cleaning cloth…)
Procedure:
Step 1: Set the screen brightness to its MAXIMUM level.
Step 2: Moisten the phone screen by using the screen cleaning solution and cloth you prepared earlier.
Step 3: Wrap the cloth around your finger and gently swipe the ink stain on the screen towards the nearest edge of the screen. Repeat the process 10 to 15 times, and the ink stain will disappear. For stubborn stains, simply continue the process, and they will eventually fade.
Note: When swiping the ink stain, keep your finger about 0.5cm away from the stain.
Ink Swiping Rule: Swipe the ink towards the edge of the screen, prioritizing the nearest edge. Perform the swipe slowly and precisely, applying gentle pressure with your finger on the screen to push the ink out effectively.

Step 4: If the screen has large ink stains that are difficult to remove, you need to be patient and repeat the process several times. Allow about 30 seconds between each attempt. You can repeat the process multiple times throughout the day, as it will not damage the overall screen.
