Instagram can sometimes be a bit overwhelming, especially for first-time users. Following others is a key part of the platform, but it may seem tricky if you're new to it. This Mytour guide will walk you through how to follow your friends, celebrities, or organizations on Instagram.
Steps
Launch Instagram by tapping the app icon on your phone. The icon features a camera with the word 'Instagram' underneath it.
- If prompted, log in to your Instagram account.

Go to the search tab by tapping the magnifying glass icon at the bottom of the screen.

In the search bar at the top of the screen, type the name of the person or organization you want to follow.

Click on the username of the person you want to follow.
- If the user you're searching for doesn't appear, you may need to ask for their Instagram account name.
- If you're trying to follow a celebrity or organization and can't find their account, try searching for their Instagram username on Google.

Tap the 'Follow' button at the top of the screen.

Follow more Instagram users from your Facebook friends list and Contacts.
- Go to your profile by tapping the person icon at the bottom right corner of the screen.
- Tap the '⋮' button in the top right corner to open more options.
- Under the 'Follow People' section, tap 'Facebook Friends' to follow your Facebook friends, or tap 'Contacts' to follow those in your phone's contacts.
Tips
- If you want users on Instagram to request permission before following you and viewing your images or videos, go to your Profile tab, tap on the three-dot icon at the top right, scroll down, and then tap the button next to the 'Private Account' option.
