Today, Mytour will show you how to forward the emails you receive in Yahoo to your Gmail inbox. This process needs to be performed on a computer. Keep in mind that the Gmail address you forward emails to must be different from the email address you provided as your recovery email in your Yahoo account.
Steps
Enable Mail Forwarding in Yahoo
Open your Yahoo inbox. Go to https://mail.yahoo.com/ in your web browser on a computer. Your Yahoo inbox will open if you are already logged in.
- If you're not logged in to your Yahoo account, enter your email address and password to proceed.
Switch back to the old version of Yahoo. Unfortunately, the latest version of Yahoo does not offer the email forwarding option in the Settings menu. You can revert to the older version, which allows email forwarding, by following these steps:
- Click on Settings in the top right corner of the page (if the icon appears as a purple gear, it means you're using the older version of Yahoo).
- Select Switch to classic Mail at the bottom left corner of the menu.
- Click on Switch back to classic Mail at the bottom of the window.
- Wait for the page to reload.
Click on Settings near the top of the drop-down menu. The Settings window will appear.
Click on Accounts on the left side of the Settings window. This option is located on the left side of the Settings window.
Select your Yahoo address. Click on the Yahoo address you want to use for forwarding to Gmail. This option is usually located at the top of the Settings window.
Scroll down to the section titled "Access your Yahoo Mail elsewhere". This option is located near the bottom of the page.
Check the "Forward" box below the section titled "Access your Yahoo Mail elsewhere". The window will refresh after this action.
Scroll down and enter your Gmail address. You will need to enter the Gmail address you want to forward your Yahoo emails to in the text box beneath the "Access your Yahoo Mail elsewhere" section.
- Ensure this is not the same Gmail address linked to your Yahoo account.
Click the Verify button. This blue button is located next to the Gmail address you entered. Yahoo will send a confirmation email to the Gmail address you provided.
Click the Save button in the bottom left corner of the window. The Settings page will close.
- At this point, you can revert to the new Yahoo version by clicking on the blue One click away from your upgraded mailbox button located in the bottom left corner of your Yahoo inbox.
Verify your Gmail address. To complete the process, follow these steps:
- Open your Gmail inbox and log in (if required).
- Look for the "Please verify your email address" email from Yahoo (it might be in the Spam folder).
- Click the click here link in the email.
- Log in to Yahoo when prompted.
- Click the green Verify button in the center of the page.
Receive forwarded emails in Gmail
- If you had previously turned off your Gmail inbox, you'll need to reopen it.
Click on Settings in the middle of the dropdown menu. The Settings page will open.
Click the Accounts and Import tab. This option is located at the top of the Settings page.
Click on Add a mail account link. This option is located to the right of the "Check mail from other accounts" section. A window will pop up.
Enter your Yahoo address. Type your Yahoo email address into the field in the center of the popup window.
Click Next at the bottom right of the window.
Check the box for "Import emails from my other account (POP3)". This option is located near the bottom of the window.
Click Next.
Enter your Yahoo email password. Type your Yahoo password in the "Password" field near the top of the popup window.
Click on Add Account (Add a new account). You can find this option at the bottom-right corner of the popup window.
- If you encounter an error stating that POP is a paid feature, click on the "POP Server" dropdown menu, and select pop.mail.yahoo.com from the list. Then, click Add Account again.
Close the popup window. Now both your Yahoo and Gmail accounts are set up to forward Yahoo emails to your Gmail inbox.
- You may need to refresh your Gmail inbox page (or click Inbox on the left side) for the Yahoo emails to appear.
Advice
- Forwarded Yahoo emails will also show up in your mobile inbox if you have the Gmail app installed on your phone.
Warning
- Yahoo frequently fills up users' inboxes with advertisements and unwanted emails, so your Gmail inbox may quickly get filled once you start forwarding Yahoo emails to it.
