Today, Mytour will guide you on preventing the recipient from seeing your name and phone number. Note: If you successfully hide your caller ID from the other party, they are less likely to answer; additionally, many call screening apps and services will immediately block calls from hidden IDs. Even if you hide your caller ID, it won’t stop calls from unwanted numbers.
Steps
Use a Block Code

You need to understand how block codes work. If you only need to hide your ID temporarily, you can add a block code before dialing the number to conceal your caller ID. You must enter this code each time you call to hide your ID.
- This method may not work if the person you’re calling uses an app or service that reveals hidden caller IDs.

Identify the block code. For GSM phones in the U.S. (such as most Android phones), you’ll use the code #31#. Other U.S. carriers often work with the familiar code *67. Other codes you might use include:
- *67 — Applies in the U.S. (except AT&T), Canada (landlines), New Zealand (Vodafone phones)
- #31# — Applies in the U.S. (AT&T phones), Australia (mobile networks), Albania, Argentina (mobile networks), Bulgaria (mobile networks), Denmark, Canada (mobile networks), France, Germany (some mobile carriers), Greece (mobile networks), India (only after network unlock), Israel (mobile networks), Italy (mobile networks), Netherlands (KPN phones), South Africa (mobile networks), Spain (mobile networks), Sweden, Switzerland (mobile networks)
- *31# — Applies in Argentina (landlines), Germany, Switzerland (landlines)
- 1831 — Applies in Australia (landlines)
- 3651 — Applies in France (landlines)
- *31* — Applies in Greece (landlines), Iceland, Netherlands (most carriers), Romania, South Africa (Telkom phones)
- 133 — Applies in Hong Kong
- *43 — Applies in Israel (landlines)
- *67# — Applies in Italy (landlines)
- 184 — Applies in Japan
- 0197 — Applies in New Zealand (Telecom or Spark phones)
- 1167 — Applies to rotary phones in North America
- *9# — Applies in Nepal (only for NTC prepaid/postpaid phones)
- *32# — Applies in Pakistan (PTCL phones)
- *23 or *23# — Applies in South Korea
- 067 — Applies in Spain (landlines)
- 141 — Applies in the UK, Republic of Ireland

Open your phone’s dialer app. Tap the Phone app icon to open it. You may need to tap the dial pad tab to bring up the numeric keypad.
- If you’re using a landline or flip phone, simply pick up the receiver.

Enter the code. Use the keypad to input the 3 or 4-digit block code you identified earlier.
- For example, if you’re in the U.S. and want to hide your caller ID, enter *67 or #31#.

Enter the 10-digit phone number. Before pressing the call button, enter the full phone number you want to dial.
- Since you might need to try different codes, it’s best to use a friend’s number instead of the actual number you need to call.
- The full number will follow the format [code][phone number], like this: *67(123)456-7890

Press the call button. Your ID will be hidden on the recipient’s phone.
Using Google Voice

Understand how Google Voice works. Google Voice assigns you a new 10-digit phone number, which is used whenever you make calls through the service.
- While the recipient will see your Google Voice number, your actual phone number remains secure, even if they use caller ID lookup apps or services.
- Google Voice is an excellent way to reach individuals who block unknown numbers without revealing your real phone number.

Open Google Voice. Tap OPEN in the app store.
- Alternatively, you can tap the Google Voice app icon, which features a white phone on a dark green background, to launch it.

Tap GET STARTED in the center of the screen.

Select a Google Account. Tap the switch next to the account you want to use with Google Voice.
- If no Google Account is linked to your smartphone, tap Add account, then enter your email address and password.

Tap ☰ in the top-left corner of the screen. A menu will pop up.
- If prompted to choose a number for your Google Voice account, skip this step and the next two.

Tap Settings in the middle of the pop-up menu.

Click on the CHOOSE (Select). This option is located below the "Account" heading near the top of the page.
- On Android, you need to tap on Get a Google Voice number here.

Press the SEARCH button at the bottom right corner of the screen.

Enter the city name. Tap on the search bar at the top of the screen, then type in the name of the city (or postal code) where you plan to use the number.

Browse through the available numbers. From the list of phone numbers, select the one that you prefer.

Click on SELECT (Choose) next to the number you wish to use.

Tap on the NEXT (Next) button twice. This option is located at the bottom right corner of the screen.

Enter your phone number. Input your actual phone number.

Click on SEND CODE (Send Code). This action is situated at the bottom right corner of the screen. Google Voice will send a 6-digit code to the Messages app on your phone.

Retrieve the Google Voice code. Follow these steps:
- Minimize the Google Voice app (do not close it completely).
- Open the Messages app on your phone.
- Select the new message from Google.
- View the 6-digit code in the message.
- Reopen Google Voice.

Enter the code. Input the 6-digit code you just viewed in the message.

Tap on the VERIFY (Verify) button located at the bottom right corner of the screen.

Complete the number request process. Click on CLAIM (Claim) when the option appears, then press FINISH (Finish) when prompted. The Google Voice homepage will load.

Make a call using Google Voice. When calling, Google Voice will use the number assigned to your account, ensuring the recipient cannot see your actual phone number. To make a call, follow these steps:
- Tap on the Calls tab.
- Press the blue and white dialer icon at the bottom right corner.
- Dial the number you wish to call.
- Tap the blue and white call button at the bottom of the screen.
- Wait for the prompt with a different number to appear.
- Click Call to proceed with the call.
Tips
- Many service providers can permanently enable caller ID blocking for your number if you call their support line and request it. This service often incurs an additional monthly fee.
- Temporary blocking codes will not hide your caller ID from emergency services (e.g., local emergency numbers or 911 in the U.S.) or toll-free numbers (e.g., 1-800 numbers). Therefore, these codes do not prevent authorities from tracing your call.
- If you want to make an untraceable anonymous call, you can always use a paid public phone.
- You can find more information online about how to hide caller ID when using an iPhone.
Warning
- Using a prepaid phone card does not guarantee that your caller ID will be hidden, as some carriers may still forward your information to the recipient.
- If you want to replace an old Google Voice number, you must wait 90 days before setting up a new one.
