Today, Mytour will show you how to appear offline on Facebook Messenger. The time when you switch to offline mode will be displayed as your 'Last Active' time and won't change, even if you continue using Messenger afterwards.
Steps to follow
On the Messenger app

Open Messenger. The app has a white lightning bolt icon inside a blue speech bubble.
- If you’re not logged into Messenger, enter your phone number, tap Continue, then enter your password.

Tap on People (Contacts) in the bottom right corner of your screen.

Click on Active (Active). This tab is located next to the All (All Contacts) tab just below the search bar at the top of the screen.

Slide the switch next to your name to the left or to the "Off" position. The button will turn white, and the list of contacts who are online beneath your name will disappear. While you will still receive messages, your profile picture will show as offline, and the 'Last Active' timestamp next to your name will start counting from when you pressed the off button.
On the Facebook Website

Open Facebook website. Your Facebook profile will open on the News Feed page.
- If you're not logged into Facebook, enter your email address (or phone number) and password, then click Log In in the top right corner of the page.

Click on the gear icon for Settings located at the bottom-right corner of the Facebook page.

Click on the Turn Off Chat option to deactivate chat.

Click on the Turn off chat for all contacts option to stop all contacts from seeing you in the "Active" list. You can also click on Turn off chat for all contacts except... to choose contacts you want to remain visible online, or select Turn off chat for only some contacts... to choose specific people to appear offline to.

Click on the Okay button. Your chat will turn gray, and you will appear offline to anyone who sees your name in their chat bar. The "Last Active" time will be when you first went offline, and this won't change even if you continue using Messenger.
Tip
- If you open the Facebook Messenger window on the Facebook website, the gear icon will be located at the top-left corner of the screen. Click on Settings, then toggle the switch next to your account name to go offline.
Warning
- There is no official way to remove the "Last Active" timestamp next to your name when you are offline.
