This guide will help you learn how to hide your birthdate on Facebook. You can adjust your birthdate settings on both the Facebook website and the mobile app.
Steps
On Desktop
Open Facebook. Visit https://www.facebook.com/ using your computer's browser. If you're logged in, Facebook will take you to your News Feed page.
- If you're not logged in, enter your email and password in the fields at the top right corner of the page and click Log In.

Click on the profile icon. This option is located immediately to the right of your birth month and year. After clicking it, a selection list will appear.
Click on Only me to hide your birthdate on your profile.
- If you also wish to hide your birth year, click the profile icon to the right of your birth year and select Only me in the displayed options.
Click on Save Changes. This will ensure that your birthdate no longer appears on your profile.
On Mobile
Open Facebook. Tap the white "f" icon on a blue background. This will open your Facebook News Feed if you are logged in.
- If you are not logged in, enter your email (or phone number) and password, then tap Log In.
Tap the profile icon. This is the silhouette icon at the bottom of the screen (iPhone) or at the top of the screen (Android). This will take you to your personal Facebook page.
- If you can't find the icon, tap the ☰ icon at the bottom-right corner of the screen (or the top-right corner on Android), then tap your name at the top of the menu that appears.
Select Edit Profile. You'll find this option below your cover photo near the top of your personal page.
Scroll down and select Edit Your About Info at the bottom of the page. The screen will display a list of your personal information.
Scroll down to the 'Basic Info' section in the middle of the page.
Click Edit next to the 'Basic Info' section.
Tap the "Privacy" icon. It’s the person-shaped icon to the right of the "Birthday" heading near the top of the page. A selection list will appear once you click on it.
Choose Only me from the list. This action will hide your birth day and month on your profile.
- If you don’t see the Only me option, select More Options and then choose Only me.
Hide your birth year. If you'd prefer others not to see your birth year, tap the "Privacy" icon to the right of this info and select Only me from the list.
- You might need to choose More Options before selecting Only me.
Scroll down and tap Save. This blue button at the bottom of the page will save your changes and hide your birthdate from your profile.
Tips
- Hiding your birthday on your profile means others won’t receive birthday notifications, and this information won’t show up on the iOS or Google calendar.
Warning
- Changing your birthdate visibility from "Public" to "Friends" will not hide your birthdate on your profile.
