Hypnosis might appear as a magical trick, but it’s actually grounded in science and involves a great deal of practice. One of the most powerful techniques is eye hypnosis – a doorway that leads to the human soul. However, remember to only attempt hypnosis when the person involved has given consent, and always use your skills responsibly.
Steps
Focus Your Gaze

Try to keep your eyes open without blinking for as long as possible. You can test yourself by looking in the mirror and timing how long you can go without blinking.
- You could also challenge someone else to see who can maintain eye contact the longest to assess your abilities.
- The ability to control your eye movements will help you maintain eye contact throughout the hypnosis process.

Improve Your Eye Focus Ability

You can practice by staring at a nearby object, like a pencil, and then gradually move on to something further away, such as an object across the room.
- Hold the pencil close to your face and focus on it.
- Shift your focus from the pencil to a distant object, like a painting on the wall or a door handle.
- Refocus on the pencil, then back to the distant object. Repeat this exercise to improve your focus flexibility.

Ask for Permission to Hypnotize the Person

You can ask them: "Can I hypnotize you?" Make sure they agree.
- It’s best to practice hypnosis on a friend or family member who trusts you, as they are more likely to accept the hypnosis.
- The key is that the person must be willing to cooperate. If they resist or don’t want to be hypnotized, your attempts will be ineffective.

Instruct the person to focus on a spot just below your right eye. Guide them to avoid looking elsewhere while you are speaking to them.

Maintain a steady gaze at the person without blinking. Begin a slow countdown from 5 to 1 with a calm and soothing tone. As you count, say to them:
- "Your eyelids are growing heavier."
- "Your eyelids are becoming gradually heavier, as if they’re being pulled downward."
- "In just a moment, your eyelids will be so heavy that they will close."
- "The more you try to keep your eyes open, the heavier your eyelids will become, relaxing more, drooping, and closing tightly."
- Repeat these phrases several times while counting down from 5 to 1.

Tell the person you’re about to touch their shoulder, and they will begin to slump down. It’s essential to notify them of what will happen before you make contact. This prepares their mind to respond to your command and follow your instructions.
- Say to them: "When I touch your shoulder, you will relax, slump, and feel heavy. Are you ready?"

Gently touch the person's shoulder and tell them they can now let go and relax. Don’t worry if they suddenly slouch or lean back into their chair. This is a clear indication they are fully relaxed and in a hypnotic state.

Make sure the person is in a hypnotic state. It’s crucial that they are aware they are relaxed through hypnosis or currently in a trance-like state.
- It’s equally important for the person to know that they are safe and well cared for. Reassure them to help maintain their trust in you and ensure they continue to follow your instructions.

Tell them that their right arm is now completely relaxed and heavy. Inform them that they will relax and let their arm droop, then touch their arm to trigger a response.
- Lift the person’s arm to confirm that it has become loose and lifeless. Then, gently place the arm down.
- This step helps confirm that the person is in a trance-like state, showing they are ready to listen to your voice and follow your commands.

Guide them to only hear your voice. Count from 5 to 1. Tell the person that by the time you reach "one," they will only hear the sound of your voice.
- Snap your fingers when you reach "one" to focus their attention. Instruct them to let your voice help them relax even deeper. Then, guide them to listen carefully to every word you say.
- Tell them to focus on every word you speak, blocking out all other sounds around them.

Check the person’s hypnotic state. Once you have gained control over the subject, you can test their trance state by asking them to touch their nose or ear. You can also instruct them to move their arms or legs as commanded.
- Always remember that hypnosis should be used cautiously and responsibly. The person in hypnosis trusts you, so never misuse this trust to provoke or harm them while they are in a trance.
Understanding Hypnosis

Don’t confuse hypnosis with unconsciousness or deep sleep. Hypnosis is actually a state of deep concentration of the mind, which allows you to become more receptive to suggestions and better at absorbing them.
- It’s crucial to understand that the person being hypnotized won’t lose control or be manipulated by the hypnotist. Instead, they will be more open to guidance and suggestions.
- Sometimes we naturally enter a trance-like state or daydream. Think about those moments when you zone out in class, drift off in a moment of daydreaming, or when you become so absorbed in a movie or TV show that you’re unaware of the world around you. All these are examples of trance-like states, similar to hypnosis.

Understanding the benefits of hypnosis. Hypnosis is not just a fun trick at a party or a way to get your friends to do silly dances. In fact, hypnosis has been proven to help treat conditions like insomnia, smoking addiction, overeating, and other disorders.

Remember that hypnosis is a skill that needs training, just like any other skill. Currently, there are no strict regulations on practicing hypnosis. Hypnotherapists can obtain certificates for completing basic or advanced courses in hypnosis and therapeutic hypnosis. However, this remains a self-regulated field.
- Certified courses cover topics such as professional ethics and basic hypnosis techniques.
- Look for certified hypnotherapists for more information on the health benefits of hypnosis.
