Today, Mytour will guide you on how to enhance the download speed of files on uTorrent. 'Seed' refers to the individuals or locations that are currently uploading the file you are downloading. To increase the number of seeds, you either need someone to upload the file or wait for more seeds to appear. There are several methods you can use to improve your download speed.
Steps to Follow
Implement Standard Troubleshooting Methods

Close Background Programs and Streaming Services. While this doesn't directly affect download speed, it will increase the amount of bandwidth (internet speed) available for file downloads. Tasks to close include:
- Streaming services (Netflix, YouTube, etc.)
- Download processes from anywhere (updates on phone/tablet/TV, etc.)
- Non-essential programs on your computer (background applications like Skype, Slack, browsers, etc.)

Pay attention to download processes with a high number of seeds. If you prioritize downloading files based on the number of seeds rather than quality, location, or size, you can opt for a similar file version with more seeds compared to the original one you intended to download.
- For instance, you might find a 720p (HD) version of a video with significantly more seeds than its 1080p (Full HD) counterpart.
- It's best to choose files with more seeders than leechers.

Disable files you don’t need to download. When you start downloading a torrent file on uTorrent, a window will appear listing all available files within the torrent. You can uncheck files you don't want to download to speed up the process.
- It’s easy to notice that less popular files (like guides or uninstallers) in torrents typically have fewer seeds. Low seed counts can cause delays in downloading these files, so uncheck these to boost download speed.

Limit yourself to downloading one item at a time. Instead of downloading multiple files simultaneously (such as several movies or shows), focus on one file at a time to ensure you can fully utilize your internet connection.

Avoid downloading overly popular files. To download a popular file, you may have to wait a few days after it’s released on your chosen torrent site. Since many others are downloading the same content, you’ll initially struggle to download it. However, once these individuals are done, you can download the file based on their seed availability.
Add a tracker

Find the current list of torrent servers (trackers). Enter utorrent trackers [month] [year] into your preferred search engine and press ↵ Enter. Replace '[month]' with the current month (in English) and '[year]' with the current year (e.g., utorrent trackers October 2017).

Visit a tracker page. After you find the page listing the current tracker servers for the specified month and year, click to open the link.
- Make sure the tracker page is secure before clicking. Specifically, the page you choose must use the HTTPS protocol (for example, the address should start with "https://").
- You can usually find tracker servers on the page where you downloaded the torrent. Look for the Trackers section on the home page of the site.

Copy the list of trackers. Click and drag your mouse from top to bottom of the tracker list to highlight it, then press Ctrl+C (Windows) or ⌘ Command+C (Mac) to copy it.
- Tracker servers are similar to website addresses.

Open uTorrent. The application has a green and white uTorrent icon.

Open the Properties section of the torrent. Double-click on the torrent you want to add a seed to.

Click on the General tab in the upper left corner of the Properties window.

Click on the "Trackers" window located in the middle of the Properties window. Your cursor will be positioned on the window.

Paste the list of tracker servers. Move your cursor to the bottom of the current server list, press ↵ Enter to create space between the cursor and the last tracker, then press Ctrl+V (Windows) or ⌘ Command+V (Mac).
- Ensure there is a blank line between each tracker line.

Click the OK button at the bottom of the window. The number of trackers for the torrent will increase, and consequently, the number of seeds will rise within a few minutes after adding the server.
Increase connections

Launch uTorrent. The app has a green and white uTorrent icon.

Click on Options (Windows) or uTorrent (Mac). This option appears in the top-left corner of the uTorrent window on Windows or the Mac desktop. A dropdown menu will appear.

Click on Preferences (Settings). This option is located near the top of the dropdown menu. The Preferences window of uTorrent will open.

Click on the Bandwidth tab. This option is located on the left side (Windows) or the top of the window (Mac).

Enter 14 in the "Maximum upload rate" field. This text box is located at the top of the page.

Enter 2329 in the "Global maximum number of connections" field. This option is located near the bottom of the window.

Enter 257 in the "Maximum number of connected peers per torrent" field. This option is located below the "Global maximum number of connections" field.

Enter 14 in the "Number of upload slots per torrent" field. This option is located at the bottom of the page.

Click on Apply button. This option is located at the bottom-right corner of the window. Changes will be applied to uTorrent.

Click on OK. Your changes will be saved, and the Preferences window will close.
