How to Install Google Earth

Have you ever wanted to zoom in and explore the world, seeing famous landmarks with just a click? With Google Earth, you can navigate through a virtual world built from satellite imagery. Installing Google Earth is simple and quick. It only takes a few minutes, and you can either install it directly in your web browser or download the app for your smartphone or tablet.

Check if your computer meets the requirements. To run Google Earth, your computer must meet certain minimum hardware specifications, though it's recommended to use a machine with higher specs for better performance. Most modern computers should have no problem running the program. Here are the recommended specs for optimal performance:

Visit the Google Earth website. You can download Google Earth for free from the official Google website. When you arrive at the Google Earth page, you will be greeted with the message "Hello, Earth" and a random image from Google Maps.

Click on the "Google Earth" link. In the center of the page, you will see two options: Google Earth and Google Earth Pro. The standard Google Earth version is free, but the Pro version comes with a cost, as it includes advanced tools for marketers and business planners.

Click on the "Desktop" option. This will take you to the "Google Earth for Desktop" page. Note that this version can also be used on laptops; "Desktop" generally refers to the desktop app, rather than browser-based applications.

Click the "Download Google Earth" button. You’ll find this button at the bottom right corner of the image box on the Google Earth for Desktop page.

Read and agree to the Terms of Service. Before downloading, you will need to read the policy. By downloading the program, you are agreeing to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

Install Google Earth. After the installation files are downloaded, begin the installation process:

• Windows – Double-click the downloaded setup file. The program will connect to the Google Earth servers to fetch the necessary files. Simply wait, and Google Earth will automatically install and launch once it's done. There are no additional options to configure during the installation process.
• Mac – Double-click the downloaded .dmg file to open a folder containing the Google Earth app. Drag the app icon into your Applications folder. You can now launch Google Earth by clicking its icon in the Applications folder.
• Ubuntu Linux – Open the Terminal (use the shortcut Ctrl+Alt+T), type sudo apt-get install lsb-core, and press ↵ Enter. After lsb-core is installed (or already present), double-click the downloaded .deb file from the Google Earth website. Google Earth will then be installed, and you can access it under Applications → Internet.

Getting Started with Google Earth. After installing Google Earth, you can start using it right away. The first time you open the app, a window will appear with helpful tips and instructions. You can read through them if you like, or close the window if you'd prefer not to.

• You can sign in with your Google account to sync maps and saved locations.

Check Your Browser's Compatibility. You can download the plugin for your browser to view Google Earth directly within websites and enable Earth View in Google Maps. Ensure that your computer meets the Google Earth system requirements (as mentioned earlier), and that your browser is one of the following versions or newer:

• Chrome 5.0+
• Internet Explorer 7+
• Firefox 2.0+ (3.0+ OS X)
• Safari 3.1+ (OS X)

Visit the Google Earth website. You can download the Google Earth plugin from the Google website. Upon accessing the Google Earth site, you will be greeted with the message 'Hello, Earth' and a random image from Google Maps.

Click on the 'Google Earth' link. In the middle of the page, you will see two options: Google Earth and Google Earth Pro. The Google Earth plugin is free for everyone to use.

Click on the Web option. The Google Earth plugin page will load immediately. Google will attempt to install the plugin automatically. Depending on your browser settings, you may need to confirm the installation before downloading.

• Note: Firefox users cannot install the plugin while Firefox is running. Therefore, you must install the plugin using a different browser. The plugin is shared across all installed browsers.

Check the plugin. Once the plugin is installed, refresh the page by pressing the F5 key. You should see the global Google Earth loading process in the frame on the page.

• A notification will appear beneath the globe, indicating that the plugin has been successfully installed.

Open the app store on your mobile device. Google Earth is available for free on both Android and iOS devices. You can use Google Earth on your phone or tablet.

• You can also find a direct link to the app in the store by visiting the Google Earth website on your phone, selecting "Mobile," and then clicking the appropriate link for your device.

Search for the Google Earth app. Make sure to download the free app from Google Inc.

Install the app. For Android, tap the Install button to start downloading the app. On iOS devices, tap Free, then press Install once the button appears. You may need to enter your account password.

• If you have data limits on your service, you may want to download the app while connected to Wi-Fi.

Launch the app. After installation, the app will appear on your home screen or in the App Drawer. Tap the app icon to open and begin using Google Earth. We recommend browsing through the initial guide on how to navigate the globe using your fingers.

• By default, Google Earth will zoom in on a location based on your device's GPS and Wi-Fi connection.
