Minecraft is one of the most widely played video games across the globe. One of the main reasons for its widespread popularity is its ability to be installed on nearly every computer. The installation process for Minecraft on Windows has become much simpler thanks to the new Minecraft Launcher. This launcher includes all the necessary Java files, meaning you don't need to install Java separately. However, if you're using Mac or Linux, you will still need to install Java manually.
Steps
On Windows
Visit the Minecraft download page. The link to the page is minecraft.net/download.
- If you have ever experienced issues running Minecraft with Java, make sure to download the latest version from minecraft.net/download. The latest Minecraft version includes all the necessary Java files and does not require separate Java installation.
Click on the link .Minecraft.msi under the "Minecraft for Windows" section. This is the step to download the latest Minecraft installer.
Run the installer. Follow the instructions to install Minecraft onto your computer.
Launch the Minecraft Launcher. This program is used to run Minecraft. You can find its icon on your Desktop after the installation is complete.
Wait for the game files to download. When you run the Launcher for the first time, the necessary game files will automatically be downloaded.
Log in with your Minecraft or Mojang account. This is the account you created when you purchased Minecraft.

Troubleshooting
Minecraft is running very slowly or frequently crashes. The common cause is that the computer does not meet Minecraft's system requirements. To ensure the smoothest gameplay experience, you will need the following:
On Mac
Download and install Java. You will need Java to run Minecraft on OS X. You can download Java for OS X 10.10 (Yosemite) by clicking here.
- Mojang is currently working on a Mac installer that does not require Java, but it is not yet finished.
Visit the Minecraft download page. The link to this page is minecraft.net/download.
Click on the "Show all platforms" link. You can find this link below the "Minecraft for Windows" section.
Click on the link .Minecraft.dmg . This will download the installer for the Mac version of Minecraft.
Double-click the downloaded DMG file. This file is located in the Downloads folder.
Drag Minecraft into the Applications folder. This is the final step in installing Minecraft.
Troubleshooting
You're encountering a crash when trying to run Minecraft. This issue happens because OS X is configured to prevent running programs that are downloaded from outside the App Store.
- Click the Apple menu and select "System Preferences".
- Choose "Security & Privacy".
- Under the "Allow apps downloaded from" section, select "Anywhere".
In the Pocket Edition of Minecraft
Open the app store on your device. Pocket Edition (PE) is a version of Minecraft designed for iOS, Android, and Windows Phone.

- Open the Preferences menu and select "Software & Updates".

- Select the "binary driver" for your graphics card and click "Apply Changes".
Install Java. Java is required to run Minecraft. You can install Java through the Terminal. Here's the installation guide for Ubuntu:
- Open the Terminal by pressing Ctrl+Alt+T to quickly open it.
- Type sudo apt-add-repository ppa:webupd8team/java and press ↵ Enter.
- Run sudo apt-get update and press ↵ Enter.
- Enter sudo apt-get install oracle-java8-installer and press ↵ Enter.
- Follow the instructions to install Java.
Download Minecraft from the page .minecraft.net/download. Click on the "Show all platforms" link, then click on the Minecraft.jar link.
After downloading, right-click on the ..jar file and choose "Properties". Go to the "Permissions" tab and check the box that says "Allow executing file as program." Then click "Apply".
Double-click the ..jar file to run the Minecraft Launcher. When you click "Play," the game files will automatically start downloading, and you'll be prompted to log in with your Minecraft or Mojang account.
Troubleshooting
Minecraft doesn't run on older versions of Ubuntu. If you're using an older version of Ubuntu and encountering difficulties running Minecraft, you can look up solutions on your own to resolve the issue.
Constant errors while playing Minecraft. There are many reasons Minecraft for Linux might fail. The easiest way to fix most errors is to use Wine (a Windows emulator for Linux) to run the Windows version of Minecraft.
