This article provides a guide on how to register for Netflix, an online streaming service that allows you to watch movies, TV shows, and other video content without limits. Netflix offers a 30-day free trial before you are required to pay. You can sign up for Netflix on your computer, smartphone, tablet, or smart TV.
Steps
Sign Up for Netflix

Go to https://www.netflix.com. Registering for Netflix on your computer is probably the easiest way to start, but you can also sign up using a few other methods:
- If you're using Android, download the Netflix app from the Play Store and open it to sign up.
- For iPhone or iPad, you can download the Netflix app from the App Store and register via the app.
- For smart TVs, you need to open the Netflix app (you may need to install the app from the TV's app store) and follow the on-screen instructions.

Enter your email address and click on Try 30 Days Free (30-day free trial). New users can enjoy the service free for 30 days. This option will appear differently depending on the device you're using to sign up, but it’s typically available on mobile phones, tablets, or smart TVs.
- You will still need to provide payment information to register for the trial, but you won’t be charged until the trial period ends. If you cancel the trial before it ends, you won’t be charged.
- If you've used the service before, you'll be asked to log in and select a plan.

Click on SEE THE PLANS (View the plans). This red button at the bottom of the screen says "Choose your plan" (Select your plan).

Select a plan and click on CONTINUE (Continue). The pricing you see will vary based on your location, but you’ll always see three plans available: Basic, Standard, and Premium.
- The Basic plan allows you to watch movies and TV shows on one screen in standard definition (SD).
- The Standard plan lets you stream on two screens, while Premium allows four. The Standard plan supports HD resolution, while Premium supports both HD and Ultra HD.

Click the CONTINUE (Continue) red button. This button is located at the bottom of the screen labeled "Finish setting up your account" (Complete account setup).

Enter your password and click on CONTINUE. Your email address may already be filled in the "Email" field, but if not, you’ll need to enter it now. This email address and password will be used to log into your Netflix account.

Select your payment method. If you have a Netflix gift card, choose Gift Code. Otherwise, select Credit or Debit Card to enter your payment information, or PayPal (if available in your location) to register using PayPal.

Enter your payment details. You will need to provide the requested information on the page currently displayed. If you're using PayPal, follow the on-screen instructions to log into your account and approve your chosen payment method.

Click on START MEMBERSHIP (Start Membership). This will activate your 30-day Netflix free trial. To continue using the service, no further action is needed after the trial period ends. If you do not want to be charged for Netflix, make sure to cancel your membership before the trial period ends.
- To cancel your trial, log in at https://www.netflix.com and click on your profile. Click on the profile icon in the top right corner, select Account, then choose Cancel Membership and follow the on-screen instructions.

Follow the on-screen instructions to personalize Netflix. Once your account is created, you can set up one or more user profiles, select your favorite genres, and begin streaming content.
Add a DVD rental plan

Log in to https://www.netflix.com. If you're already a Netflix member and wish to receive DVDs by mail in addition to streaming, you can add the DVD rental plan to your account. Begin by logging into Netflix using your email and Netflix password.

Click on your profile. This will direct you to your personal profile page.

Click on the profile icon. You can find this icon in the top-right corner of the page.

Click on Account on the menu.

Click on Add DVD plan. You can find this option under the "PLAN DETAILS" section, located near the middle of the page.

Select a DVD rental plan. Both the Standard and Premium plans allow unlimited DVD rentals each month. The only difference is that the Standard plan allows you to rent one DVD at a time, while the Premium plan lets you rent two DVDs simultaneously.
- If you want to rent Blu-ray discs along with DVDs, check the box next to "Yes, I want to include Blu-ray" below the DVD rental options.

Click on Get Started (Start). This is the red button located at the bottom of the page.

Follow the on-screen instructions to confirm. If this is your first time adding the DVD rental plan to your Netflix account, you will receive a 30-day trial. Otherwise, you will be charged for the first month of the DVD rental service as soon as you confirm.
- Visit https://dvd.netflix.com when you want to browse DVDs. To add a DVD to your queue, click Add to Queue or Add on the movie or show’s information page.
- Manage your DVDs by clicking on the Queue menu at the top of the DVD page.
Tips
- Netflix recommends a minimum internet speed of 0.5Mb per second to stream video, but this will not support the highest quality video. For HD quality, Netflix recommends a connection speed of at least 5Mb per second. Check out the internet speed test guide to measure your connection speed.
- You can host a Netflix party to enjoy TV shows or movies with friends across the country.
