An omelette is a simple, healthy dish that is perfect for breakfast or any meal throughout the day. It is made from eggs that are well-beaten and lightly fried. While the preparation method remains generally consistent, regional variations can offer a delightful twist. Steps
Classic Stuffed Omelet
Prepare the ingredients.

Crack the eggs. Crack each egg individually into a bowl. After cracking the eggs, remember to wash your hands thoroughly to prevent contamination from Salmonella bacteria.
Whisk the eggs until the yolks and whites are fully blended. You can use a fork or a whisking tool to mix the eggs well. At this stage, you may add salt, pepper, herbs, and other seasonings to the eggs.
Start frying the eggs. Heat a bit of butter in a pan over medium heat. Pour the eggs into the pan and use a spatula to spread them evenly. Add a little milk or water to help the eggs puff up.
Add the filling. Once the eggs are cooked on the bottom and still soft on top, sprinkle all the filling (except the cheese) on top. Continue cooking until bubbles appear on the surface of the eggs.

Flip the eggs. Use a small spatula to gently flip the eggs over. Continue cooking for another 1-2 minutes until the eggs are no longer runny.
Add the cheese and fold the eggs. Sprinkle cheese in the center, then gently fold the eggs in half using a small spatula. Plate the omelet and serve.

Sprinkle a bit of cheese over the eggs.
French-style Herb-infused Omelette
Melt a small amount of butter in a metal pan over low heat.

Whisk the eggs and season them. While the butter is melting, crack 2-3 eggs into a bowl. Use a whisk to blend the eggs until the yolks and whites combine smoothly. For a lighter omelette, it's best to avoid using too many eggs, as it can make it thick. The egg mixture should spread thin across the pan. Add a pinch of salt and pepper, and sprinkle in dill, oregano, and other herbs. Half a teaspoon of each spice should provide enough flavor.

Pour the eggs into the pan. Make sure the pan is hot, and the butter is sizzling. Once poured in, the eggs will start to bubble and cook quickly. Stay close and watch carefully as the eggs cook fast this way. Fry one side for about 30 seconds.
Flip the egg. Lift the pan and quickly rotate your wrist in a circular motion to flip the egg over. Be careful not to let the egg slide out of the pan. Make sure your wrist movement is controlled so the egg stays centered in the pan.

Transfer the egg to a plate. After frying the second side for about 20 seconds, you can transfer the egg to a plate and use the edge of the pan to fold it in half. This simple method results in a delicious, perfectly cooked fried egg.
Steamed Omelette
Mix the ingredients. Whisk the eggs and then add in grated carrot, onion, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Stir everything together thoroughly.
Pour the eggs into the steaming pot. If you have a bamboo steamer, you can use that for steaming the eggs. If not, you can use two pots, one large and one smaller that fits snugly inside the larger pot. Add a bit of water into the larger pot, then place the smaller pot on top. Put both pots on the stove and set the heat to medium. Pour the egg mixture into the smaller pot and cover it with a lid.
Steam until the eggs set. Let the steam cook the eggs for about 10 minutes, or until the surface of the eggs hardens. When you shake the pot or pan, the eggs will jiggle slightly, but when you look at them, they should no longer be wet.

Remove the pot from the heat and slice the eggs into pieces. Serve immediately.
Baked Omelette

Preheat the oven to 350°C. Make sure the oven is evenly heated before placing the eggs inside.
Mix the ingredients. Whisk the eggs in a bowl, then stir in milk, cheese, bacon, herbs, salt, and pepper.

Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish. Baking eggs can often stick to the dish, so it’s best to use butter, oil, or non-stick spray to grease the baking dish. Once done, pour the egg mixture into the dish.

Bake the omelet. Place the baking dish into the oven and bake for about 45 minutes, or until the surface of the eggs firms up. When you shake the dish, the eggs should jiggle slightly but remain firm without any liquid seeping out.

Remove the eggs from the oven and serve. Cut the baked eggs into slices, similar to how you would slice a pizza. These baked eggs go wonderfully with crackers or toasted bread.
Tips
- Don’t hesitate to get creative with new combinations. Many people enjoy adding various ingredients (like butter and shrimp or bacon and pineapple) to their omelets. Much like making a pizza, chefs can experiment freely with omelet recipes.
- Ensure all additional ingredients are cooked beforehand, especially meat.
- Plan ahead. To make your omelet faster, it’s a good idea to pre-chop your favorite ingredients. Chopping vegetables, meat, or grating cheese will take more time than frying the eggs.
- If you want your omelet less puffy, avoid using milk and opt for a wider pan. This is a great option for those who prefer quick frying of eggs.
- For maximum fluffiness, separate the egg whites and yolks, then mix them together right before frying.
- Feel free to use pre-grated cheese.
- Instead of milk, you can substitute with a small amount (about one tablespoon) of sour cream.
- You can add a bit of Parmesan cheese, cream cheese, and/or Mozzarella cheese for extra flavor.
- If the omelet doesn’t turn out as pretty, you can switch to scrambled eggs by adding a bit of milk and whisking the eggs well.
