Clear slime (also known as 'liquid glass slime') is a unique creation in the slime world – it’s completely see-through, making it perfect for play or as a decorative accessory! If you're looking to create something distinct from the usual slime made with white glue, clear slime is a fun and exciting alternative.
Ingredients
Clear Slime with Borax
- 1/2 cup (120ml) clear glue
- 1 cup (240ml) hot water, plus 2 tablespoons (30ml) of room temperature water
- 1/2 teaspoon (2.5ml) borax
Clear Slime without Borax
- 100ml clear glue
- 200ml hot water, plus 60ml of room temperature water
- 30ml salt solution
- 6g baking soda
Steps
Making Clear Slime with Borax

Prepare the borax solution. Take a small bowl, mix the borax into hot water until fully dissolved and the liquid becomes clear. Set the solution aside.
Transfer the clear glue into a separate bowl.
Stir one tablespoon of water into the glue mixture.
Add about 3 teaspoons of borax solution to the glue. Stir thoroughly; your slime will start to form clumps and stick to the stirring utensil.
Add borax solution if necessary. Only add one teaspoon at a time – adding too much will make the slime too firm.
Start kneading the slime by hand. If the slime is too sticky, add more borax solution; if it’s too stiff, add more glue.
Play with the clear slime! Store the slime in a plastic bag or sealed container when you're done playing with it.
- The longer the slime is stored, the more transparent it becomes.
Making Clear Slime without Borax
Stir the hot water and baking soda. Add the baking soda and hot water to a bowl and stir until fully dissolved. Set the baking soda mixture aside to cool.
Pour the clear glue into a separate bowl.
Add room temperature water to the bowl.
Add the salt solution.
Stir the ingredients well. After mixing, the mixture will still be liquid but thicker in consistency.
Pour the glue mixture into the baking soda mixture. Make sure the water has cooled down – you’ll be using your hands to mix it, so be cautious to avoid burns.
Carefully stir the baking soda mixture by hand. If you prefer not to get your hands wet, you can use a stirring tool for the slime.
Strain the baking soda mixture into another bowl. You can reuse the bowl that had the glue mixture to hold the baking soda mixture, if you prefer.
Play with the clear slime! Take the slime out of the bowl, stretch it, knead it, and squeeze it. Store the slime in a plastic bag or sealed container when you're done playing.
Tips
- If you're feeling creative, try adding small toys, glitter, or beads to the slime.
- After playing with the slime for a while, you’ll notice it forms bubbles. This is normal, though it might slightly affect the clarity of the slime.
- Let the slime sit for about 2 or 3 days until the bubbles disappear. If the slime still appears cloudy, wait a few more days. Make sure the slime is stored in a sealed container.
- Don’t play with the slime for extended periods (45-60 minutes) as it may dry out and become stiff.
Warnings
- Don’t add too much borax solution in the first method to prevent the slime from becoming too firm.
