Tips
- Quickly raise the pressure in the pot, then reduce the heat to the lowest possible level while maintaining pressure.
- Each pressure cooker has different pressure valves or buttons. You should refer to the user manual to understand how your pressure cooker works. Fagor pressure cookers have a button that pops out completely when there is pressure inside the pot.
- Cooking times vary depending on the type of pressure cooker and the altitude above sea level. This recipe is based on an altitude of 2,300 feet above sea level using a Fagor pressure cooker at 15psi. Your pressure cooker may have different settings.
- Refer to the user manual to know the exact amount of water required. Each pressure cooker has specific guidelines on the minimum amount of water needed to cook food properly.
Warnings
- Always be cautious when opening the pressure cooker. The food is usually very hot.
- Always wait for the pressure-cooked food to cool down before tasting. Pressure cookers reach high temperatures during cooking.
- Do not attempt to cook chicken in the pressure cooker with oil. This is extremely dangerous and should not be done. You can fry the chicken in oil to achieve a golden color, then cook it in the pressure cooker with water.
- Always ensure that the tube or valve system of the pressure cooker is not clogged. Check the user manual for proper operation.
- Always follow the pressure cooker’s user manual.
