Frozen grapes are a delightful, low-calorie, and low-fat snack that even ice cream lovers will find irresistible. This treat is perfect for children (and growing teens) during hot summer days and requires minimal preparation time. If you want to make frozen grapes without spending much effort, jump straight to Step 1 to get started.
Steps

Wash the grapes thoroughly. It’s always best to wash any fruit before consuming it. Cleaning the fruit helps remove harmful pesticides. Place the grapes in a colander, bowl, or plate and gently pat them dry with a paper towel. Allow them to sit for 15 minutes to dry completely.

Place the grapes on a piece of parchment paper, baking sheet, or a plate. You can also use a Tupperware container or another airtight container. Spread the grapes out so they don’t touch each other. This prevents them from sticking together when frozen. Even after drying, a little moisture can cause the fruit to clump into a giant mass.
Freeze the grapes for at least 4-5 hours. The more grapes you have, the longer it will take for them to freeze completely. You can leave them overnight, but avoid keeping them frozen for too long as it may cause them to lose flavor and nutrients.
Remove the grapes from the freezer. Take them out and place them in a bowl, ready to be enjoyed.
Enjoy. Take the grapes out of the freezer and serve. If you want to get creative, there are many ways to enhance plain frozen grapes:
Tips
- Use frozen grapes to chill your wine without diluting it!
- Black grapes are more nutrient-rich and freeze better than green grapes, though many prefer the taste of frozen green grapes. Try both varieties.
- Skip the parchment paper (to be eco-friendly). Just ensure the grapes are thoroughly dry and place them in a ziplock bag. Lay the bag flat in the freezer to prevent the grapes from sticking together. They freeze best this way. Grapes lose nutrients after a week and should not be used beyond that time under normal conditions!
- If you want to make Italian grape sorbet, simply blend a cup of grapes and freeze for a few hours.
- Wash the grapes and let them air dry on a paper towel for a day, then remove the stems and place them in a ziplock bag.
- After drying, wrap about 6-7 grapes in plastic wrap (repeat for the rest) and place them in a ziplock bag to freeze. This method works great!
- Try freezing both black and green grapes, then mix them in a bag. This creates a tasty and nutritious treat.
- Wash the grapes, place them in a ziplock bag, and store until ready to use. Then, skewer them and enjoy.
- Try placing grapes in a 4-liter bag and freezing them for a few months. They won’t stick together and will remain usable for months.
- Freeze the grapes for a few hours.
Warnings
- Do not give this snack to babies as it poses a choking hazard.
