Using a Blender

Comparison between white rice and brown rice
Better for baked goods: brown rice.
Has a slightly nutty and sweet taste.
Lower price: white rice.
Brown rice is considered a premium product and is typically more expensive.
Higher nutritional value: brown rice.
It contains bran, which is usually removed in white rice, providing more protein and fiber.
Longer shelf life: white rice.
The oil in brown rice makes it more prone to spoilage.
Fluffier outcome: white rice.
Brown rice flour tends to be denser, making baked products firmer.

- The blades of a regular blender are not designed for grinding rice. If you plan to grind large quantities, consider purchasing a higher-quality blender with greater power.
- The finer the flour, the better the taste and texture of your baked goods and other dishes.

- If using a resealable bag, make sure to push all the air out before sealing it.

- To keep track of its expiration, use a marker or label to note the date of grinding. The expiration date is typically one year from the grinding date. If there are multiple types of flour in the pantry, be sure to label them as 'rice flour'.
- Storing flour in the fridge or freezer can extend its shelf life.
Use a coffee grinder

- Be cautious not to place your fingers too close to the blade, and always turn off the coffee grinder before cleaning.
- A brush or an old toothbrush can easily reach into tight corners and crevices.

- If the grinder becomes too hot, turn it off and let it cool for a few minutes before continuing.
- If the rice flour still has large grains after the first round, you may need to grind it a second time. Older grinders or dull blades may not deliver the desired result.

- You can also use a glass jar with a lid or a zip-lock bag instead of a container.

- To remember the "expiration date" of the flour, you can mark the grinding date using a marker or a sticker.
- If you want to extend its shelf life, you can store the flour in the fridge or freezer.
Use a flour grinder

- The settings are used to control the coarseness or fineness of the flour. A lower setting creates flour with larger particles.
- Always start the grinder before adding rice.

- If the flour is not as fine as desired, you can pour it back into the hopper and grind it again.

- You can let the grinder run for an additional 5 seconds after grinding the rice to ensure no rice grains remain stuck in the machine.

- Use a spoon to scrape any remaining flour in the container into the storage container to prevent waste.
- You can also use a zip-lock plastic bag as an alternative to a storage container.

- The best option is to store the flour in a cool, dry place.
- Refrigerating or freezing the flour is the safest choice to extend its shelf life.
- Label the container with the expiration date using a marker or sticker if you wish to track the flour's shelf life. Write the name of the flour ("rice flour") along with the expiration date.

Advice
- You can use a food processor instead of a blender. Just make sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions for grinding flour.
- Although a flour mill is more expensive and less practical, it provides a finer flour texture at home, especially if you don’t like the graininess of flour ground by a blender or coffee grinder.
- Brown rice is more nutritious than white rice.
Warning
- Do not use instant rice. It is recommended to use raw, unprocessed rice.
