Most people enjoy having soft, full lips. Beautiful and fresh lips are hard to resist! However, many believe that the only way to achieve this look is through surgery or cosmetic injections. These methods, though, can be costly and risky, and the results may not always meet expectations. Using cinnamon is a natural, budget-friendly solution. You can make your own lip care products at home with cinnamon that not only moisturize but also exfoliate and enhance the fullness of your lips!
Steps
Plumping Your Lips with Cinnamon Powder

Start with the cleaning step. Wash your face and scrub your hands, as you will need to use your fingers during this process. If you have lipstick or gloss on your lips, remove it before proceeding. The first step in this method is to clean your lips. Use a wet cloth to gently rub your lips by moving your fingers back and forth a few times. This will also help remove dead skin cells from your lips.

Apply the moisturizer. You can use Vaseline, Aquaphor, or even your favorite lip balm. Apply a thin layer of moisturizer over the entire surface of your lips. Just be sure to stay within the lip line. This step helps prevent excessive exfoliation and provides moisture to your lips before applying cinnamon.

Prepare the mixture. Add half a teaspoon of cinnamon powder to a dollop of Vaseline (about the size of a pea) in a clean bowl and stir until you achieve a thick paste. Use a clean finger to scoop a small amount of the mixture. You can also use a soft-bristled brush if preferred.
- If you have cinnamon sticks at home, you can use those as well—just remember to crush them. There's no need to grind the cinnamon into a fine powder—crushing it like sea salt or table salt will work just fine.
- This recipe can be adjusted by adding salt for extra exfoliation. Mix half a teaspoon of cinnamon powder with half a teaspoon of salt in a clean bowl, then add 1 tablespoon of Vaseline and stir well. Continue with the remaining steps as directed (no other changes to the process).

Apply the mixture to your lips. Using your finger (or a soft-bristled toothbrush), apply the mixture evenly across your lips. Once the mixture is applied, gently press your finger (or the soft-bristled brush) onto your lips and massage in small circular motions on both lips for about 30-40 seconds.
- A slight tingling sensation is completely normal. Cinnamon causes mild irritation, making your lips red and a bit swollen.
- Be careful not to swallow the cinnamon as it can cause discomfort in your throat.

Let the mixture sit on your lips for a while. You need to leave the mixture on your lips for about 3-5 minutes. After this time, gently wipe away the mixture with a wet cloth. Your lips will now appear rosy, fresh, and plump.
- Do not leave the cinnamon mixture on your lips for longer than a few minutes. Lips typically become plump after about 3 to 5 minutes of applying the mixture. Leaving it on too long or overnight will not make your lips plumper but may cause you to accidentally swallow it and result in more serious irritation.

Apply lip balm. You can use either colorless or tinted lip balm (if desired). Vaseline or Aquaphor also work well. Just make sure you don't skip this step—your lips need moisture after becoming plump, and hydrated lips will look even more beautiful!
Plump Your Lips with Cinnamon Leaf Oil

Start with the cleaning step. Wash your face and scrub your hands since you'll be using your fingers during this process. If you've applied lipstick or gloss, remove it first. The first step is to cleanse your lips. Gently rub a wet cloth over your lips by moving your fingers back and forth a few times. This also helps remove dead skin cells from your lips.

Prepare the mixture. Add a tablespoon of Vaseline to a small bowl. Then, add two drops of cinnamon leaf oil (which can be found at most health product sections in supermarkets). Be sure to use cinnamon leaf oil, not cinnamon bark oil. Stir the mixture with a toothpick for convenience.
- Cinnamon oil is a natural product and generally does not cause side effects. However, if your skin is very sensitive, or if you're pregnant or breastfeeding, you should consult a doctor before using this method.
- Applying cinnamon oil to your lips can also help reduce motion sickness. Additionally, it can leave you with fresh breath.

Apply the mixture. Gently rub the mixture onto your lips for about 2-3 minutes and let it sit. A slight tingling sensation is completely normal. Cinnamon causes mild irritation, making your lips red and a bit swollen, so the tingling is expected.
- If your lips feel hot or uncomfortable instead of just a slight tingling, wipe off the mixture and create a new one with only one drop of cinnamon oil instead of two.

Use the mixture as lip gloss. After a few minutes of applying the mixture, you'll notice your lips becoming plump and slightly red, giving them a natural look. This effect lasts for several hours. Once your lips return to their normal state, you can continue applying the mixture just like a lip gloss.
Tips
- Use only a small amount of cinnamon if you have sensitive skin.
- To prevent chapped lips, apply a high-quality lip balm every night.
Warnings
- Do not perform this if your lips are cracked. Cinnamon will stick to small cracks and cause a burning sensation.
