Shedinja is a mysterious Pokémon that hovers motionless in the air with a glowing halo above its head. It has only 1 HP (hit points) but is immune to most attacks in the game. To get Shedinja, you need to evolve the Pokémon Nincada and meet a few additional requirements. Shedinja can be a powerful and surprising addition to your battle team.
Steps

Catch Nincada. Shedinja appears when Nincada evolves into Ninjask and you meet the necessary conditions. Depending on the version you're playing, you can find Nincada in the following locations:
- In Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald - You can find Nincada in the grass on Route 116.
- In FireRed and LeafGreen - You'll need to trade to get Nincada.
- In Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum - Nincada can be found in Eterna Forest, but you’ll need the special item Poké Radar.
- In HeartGold and SoulSilver - Nincada is available in the Bug Catching Contest at National Park on Thursdays and Saturdays.
- In Black, White, B2, W2 - You'll need to trade to get Nincada.
- In X and Y - Nincada can be found in the grass on Route 6. You can also find it in the Friend Safari with the Ground type.
- In Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire - Nincada is found in the grass on Route 116.

Make Space in Your Team. To receive Shedinja when Nincada evolves, you need to have an empty slot in your party. This means you can have no more than five Pokémon in your party, including Nincada.

Have a spare Poké Ball (only in some versions). Certain versions of the game require you to have at least one spare Poké Ball in your bag. This must be a standard Poké Ball, not a special type like an Ultra Ball.
- In Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum, there is no need for an extra Poké Ball. All other versions, however, have this requirement.
- Note that in Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum, since no additional Poké Ball is required, Shedinja will copy the Poké Ball used to capture Nincada. This is the only way to catch Shedinja in a non-standard Poké Ball.

Level Nincada to at least level 20. This is the first level at which Nincada attempts to evolve into Ninjask. Make sure you have space in your party and a spare Poké Ball before allowing Nincada to evolve, or else you won’t get Shedinja. You can level Nincada by battling or using Rare Candy.
- If you prevent Nincada from evolving, you can continue training both Nincada and Shedinja at the same time, as Shedinja inherits everything from Nincada upon evolution. You can stop the evolution by holding down the B button during the evolution process. For example, if you wait to let Nincada evolve until it reaches level 50, Shedinja will also be at level 50 and inherit all moves Nincada learned up to that point.

Allow Nincada to evolve to obtain Shedinja. Once all the requirements are met, Shedinja will appear in your party. You won’t receive any notification that you’ve obtained it.
- Since Shedinja evolves from Nincada, if Nincada is shiny, Shedinja will be too. Shedinja will also inherit all of Nincada’s EV (Effort Value) and IV (Individual Value) stats.
- Shedinja has only 1 HP but is immune to many types of attacks. Its Wonder Guard ability only allows “Super Effective” moves to damage it. This includes moves of Fire, Flying, Ghost, and Dark types. It also has decent offensive power. If you teach Shedinja the Quick Claw ability, it may be able to attack first and defeat opponents before they can use their Super Effective moves.
