This article provides a guide on how to find the address of an image online. The most straightforward and common method is to search through Google, but you can also retrieve the image URL using most search engines. If you wish to set the image URL from your computer, you can upload the image to Imgur and copy the URL from there.
Steps
Use Google on your computer

Open Google Image Search page. Visit https://images.google.com/ using your computer's web browser to access Google's image search page.
Enter your search query by typing a word or phrase in the input box at the center of the page.

Search for images. Scroll through the search results until you find the image you are looking for.
Open the image by clicking on it.

Copy the image's URL. Right-click on the image, then choose one of the following options based on your browser:
- Chrome - Click Copy image address
- Firefox - Click Copy Image Location
- Microsoft Edge - Click Copy link
- Internet Explorer - Click Properties, select the URL next to the "Address" title, then press Ctrl+C.
- Safari - Click Copy image address

Paste the URL. To see the image's URL, paste it into the input box by placing your cursor in the box and pressing Ctrl+V (on Windows) or ⌘ Command+V (on Mac).
Use Google on your mobile phone

- If you don't have Google Chrome, you can download the free app from the iPhone App Store or the Android Google Play Store.

Tap the address bar at the top of the screen. This will bring up the keyboard on your phone or tablet's screen.
- The tap action will highlight the characters currently displayed in the address bar; if not, you may need to delete the existing text before proceeding.

Enter your search query by typing a word or phrase.

Tap Search on the keyboard. This will search Google and display results relevant to the word or phrase you entered.
- On Android, you'll tap Go or Enter/Return at this step.

Tap the IMAGES tab at the top of the search results page. This action ensures that Google Chrome only displays images.

Find your image. Scroll through the search results until you spot the image you’re looking for.

Open the image by tapping on it.

Copy the link. Press and hold the link shown in the menu below, then tap Copy Link URL when prompted.

Paste the link. To view the image URL, open any app with a data entry field, press and hold the field for a moment, then tap Paste from the menu that appears.
Find URL links in other browsers

Locate the image you want to grab the address of. You can usually obtain the address for most images found online.

View the full version of the image. Some websites display thumbnail versions of images instead of full-size ones. If you copy the URL from here, you'll get the URL of the thumbnail. To get the full image URL, you need to open the image in its full size in your browser.
- For example, the image in this article is a thumbnail. To view the full-size image, click on it to open it in a new window.

Right-click on the image. After finding the image you want to get the URL for, right-click on it to open the options list.
- If you're using a Mac with a one-button mouse, hold the Ctrl key and click on the image to bring up the right-click menu.
- On mobile interfaces (like phones or tablets), you can tap and hold the image, then tap the Copy URL or Copy Link option. Not all browsers offer this choice.

Copy the image URL. You will select one of the following options from the list, depending on the browser you're using:
- Chrome - Click on Copy image address
- Firefox - Click on Copy Image Location
- Microsoft Edge - Click on Copy link
- Internet Explorer - Click on Properties, select the URL path next to the "Address" title and press Ctrl+C.
- Safari - Click on Copy image address

Paste the image URL. Once you have copied the image URL, it will be stored in your computer's clipboard. You can paste the URL anywhere, such as in messages, documents, or the browser's address bar.
- If you copy new data before pasting the URL, the copied image URL will be replaced with the new data.
Using Imgur

Understand the purpose of this method. If you want to assign a URL to a file on your computer, you can upload the file to a file-hosting website (like Imgur) and copy the URL. Imgur is one of the most popular examples.

Open Imgur. Go to https://imgur.com/ in your browser to access the Imgur homepage.

Click the New post button (green button at the top of the homepage) to open a menu.

Click on the Browse button (the gray button in the middle of the menu) to open File Explorer (on Windows) or Finder (on Mac).

Select an image from your computer. Go to the folder where the image is stored that you want to upload, then click to select the image.

Click the Open button (located at the bottom right of the window) to upload the selected image to Imgur.
- You can rename the image by clicking the text field above the image and typing a name.

Click the Copy button (the gray button on the right of the image URL in the top-right corner of the page) to copy the image's URL to your clipboard.

Paste the image URL. To view the image URL, paste it into a text field by placing the cursor in the field and pressing the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+V (on Windows) or ⌘ Command+V (on Mac).
Advice
- Search engines like Bing serve a similar function to Google, but Google remains the most commonly used search engine.
Warning
- If you wish to use someone else's image, you must seek permission and ensure proper attribution next to the image; otherwise, you may face legal action.
