DEB files are extensions typically used to store Unix installation data, similar to compressed .zip files for application installation or data storage. If you're using an operating system other than Linux, programs like 7-Zip can be used to open .deb files and view their contents. Today, Mytour will guide you on how to open DEB files to inspect their stored contents on a Windows PC.
Steps
Download 7-Zip from https://www.7-zip.org. 7-Zip is a free tool that allows you to view the contents of DEB compressed files. If 7-Zip is already installed on your computer, you can skip this step.
- Click to download the 32-bit X84 or 64-bit x64 installation file. A File Explorer window will appear for you to choose the download location. Click Save when you're ready to download the software.
- Click the .exe file after downloading. Then, click Allow changes when prompted and select Install. A progress bar will appear during installation. Finally, click Close to exit the installer window.
Open 7-Zip File Manager. The software is usually listed under the "Recently Added" section in the Start menu.
Navigate to the .deb file. This software functions similarly to a computer's file management program.
Click on the file. The file will now be highlighted in blue.
Click the extract button. This button features a blue minus icon and is located at the top of the window. A pop-up window will appear with various options, including the extraction location.
Click Ok. The data inside the .deb compressed file will be extracted to the location you specified in the previous step.
