You might feel a bit down when the weather forecast predicts all-day rain and thunderstorms. But wait – it’s not the end of the world! There are plenty of things you can do indoors, from fun activities like playing games and visiting museums to more productive tasks like doing household chores or exercising.
Steps
Indoor Entertainment

Plan a Movie Marathon. Snuggle up in a blanket and binge-watch all the movies you’ve been wanting to see or revisit old favorites. You can use streaming services or a DVD player if you don’t have Wi-Fi. If you’re watching with a group, let friends or family pick their favorite films. And don’t forget the popcorn!
- If you’re with your partner, turn the rainy day into a sweet date! All you need are a few romantic comedies, some candles, and quality time together.

Play Video Games. Just power up your device, invite some friends, or explore new gaming apps on your phone. Get ready, gear up, and dive into the competition!

Cook Something. Challenge yourself to prepare lunch or dinner using only what’s available in your kitchen, or bake some cookies and enjoy them fresh out of the oven.

Throw an Impromptu Dance Party with Friends. Turn up the speakers or your iPod, pick an exciting playlist, and dance the night away. You can also learn some new moves from online tutorials. Add colorful lights, dress up for the occasion, or just dance in your pajamas for extra fun!

Organize a Treasure Hunt or Indoor Camping for Kids. Hide clues in envelopes around the house leading to a special prize like a toy, a few coins, or some chocolate. Alternatively, set up a campsite in your living room by pitching a tent or creating one with blankets draped over sofas. Add pillows, sleeping bags, and some snacks for a cozy experience.
Productive Activities

Plan Your Vacation. When you're stuck inside due to the rain, use the time to plan your next beach getaway or mountain adventure. Start by exploring maps, budgeting costs, and researching travel guides or online info to brainstorm fun activities.

Work Out at Home. Try some strength-building exercises indoors, like push-ups, sit-ups, or squats. Get your heart rate up with jumping jacks or skipping rope. You can still burn calories without leaving your house!

Do Some Cleaning. Tackle your bathroom, kitchen, or bedroom. Turn on some music to drown out the sound of thunder, grab a cloth and cleaning solution, and get to work!

Do Your Homework. A rainy day is the perfect opportunity to review your lessons or focus on work tasks. Enjoy the comfort of a blanket, a hot beverage, and dive into your books or computer tasks.
Relax While It Rains

Soak in a Luxurious Bubble Bath. Use your free time to indulge in a lavish bubble bath. If you don’t have bubble bath soap, a regular bath will do—just add candles and prepare some snacks to make the experience extra special.

Make a Hot Drink. Rainy days are perfect for sipping on tea, coffee, or hot chocolate. If you’re with friends or children, host a 'tea party'. Dress up, set out a nice tea set with some snacks, and create the atmosphere in your favorite style. Let the party begin!

Listen to Music, Radio, or Podcasts. Listening to some relaxing tunes by candlelight is a wonderful way to unwind and enjoy a rainy day.

Take a Nap. If your life has been hectic lately and you haven’t had time to rest, or you just need a good night’s sleep to recharge, the sound of rain falling on the roof and the streets can be incredibly soothing. Let the rain lull you into a peaceful slumber.
Go Outside When It’s Raining

Go to the Movies to Forget the Rainy Day. A classic rainy day activity: escape the dreariness of the weather by heading to the cinema with popcorn and a good movie. If possible, buy your movie tickets online a few hours in advance; many people might have the same idea and head to the theater as well!

Head to the Mall. Turn a rainy day into a shopping spree. Visit the mall to escape the boredom of the rainy weather and find joy browsing through stores.

Go Out to Eat with Friends. Gather a few friends and head to your favorite restaurant, or try a new place to bring some excitement to the gloomy day.

Visit a Museum or Art Gallery. You can call ahead or check online for ticket prices at museums or art galleries. In Vietnam, most of these places charge an entry fee. Use the rainy day to learn something new and explore cultural exhibits.

Go to the Gym. Most gyms are indoors, so there's no excuse to skip your workout! Invite a few friends for extra motivation and hit the weights or go for a run on the treadmill. You can also swim at an indoor pool.

Visit a Ski Resort. What could be better than swapping rain for snow? Ski resorts typically offer affordable entry fees and equipment rentals. So, what are you waiting for? Head there with friends, family, or kids and don't forget to stop for a hot chocolate break now and then.

Go Bowling with Friends or Family. Bowling is a perfect activity for kids who are stuck at home all day, or a group of friends who want to share some laughs. Most bowling alleys provide shoe and ball rentals in different sizes, so anyone can join in. You can either rent a support ramp for beginners or challenge yourself by going without it.

Dance in the Rain or Take a Walk! While indoor activities can help distract you from the rain, there's also something incredibly fun about playing outside in it. Put on your rain boots, wear a raincoat or grab an umbrella, and take a walk with friends or alone. Try listening to the sound of the rain on the streets and inhale the fresh scent of nature. Maybe tomorrow the sun will be back!
- Avoid going out if the rain is heavy or there is lightning.
Entertainment During a Power Outage

Play Games with Your Family to Pass the Time. Grab your favorite board game or a deck of cards, some candles or flashlights, and start a challenge with friends or family. You can also play word games, 20 Questions, a scavenger hunt, or even create your own games.

Host a Fashion Show with Your Friends. Dig through your wardrobe or ask your parents or friends if you can rummage through theirs, and use a flashlight as a spotlight. Pick out stylish outfits and shoes, and don't forget the accessories! You can even try a new makeup look like contouring. Dress up however you like since you don’t need to go out anyway!

Draw and Do Crafts to Spark Your Creativity. Grab a few sheets of paper and a box of colored pencils or markers to draw, or use watercolors to paint, or even cut and paste pictures. Make the most of your free time to create something, or entertain the kids with drawing or coloring books.

Play with Your Pets to Give Them Some Exercise. If you’re stuck at home, your pets probably are too. Grab a few feathers or a string to play with your cat, or toss something nearby to play with your dog. When your pet seems tired, you can pet them and relax together.

Read a Good Book to Lose Track of Time. If you're alone and there's no power at home, grab a flashlight, light some candles, and read. Pick up a bestselling book or a novel you haven’t read yet, or revisit your favorite one. If you’re with kids, you could read a story to them. Light candles to set a cozy mood.

Write to Reflect on Yourself. Write in a journal, compose a poem, or create a story. The rain will inspire you and provide the time you need to connect with your inner thoughts.

Catch Up with Friends and Family. If neither you nor your loved ones can go outside, make the most of this valuable time together! Check in on everyone's lives and share your own stories. Put aside your phone and computer and use this moment to connect and bond with one another.
- Tell spooky tales that will make the kids scream, or share some jokes to lighten the mood.
