To fully enjoy a Black ‘n Mild, you need to know the proper way to prepare it. Below are some techniques to help you successfully craft the perfect cigar.
Steps

Use scissors to cut the plastic wrapper near the mouthpiece of the cigar. Do not remove the cigar from the plastic wrapper. Each cigar comes with a single plastic wrapper, which holds the tobacco and makes it easier to pour the tobacco back into the cigar.
- Since you’ll need to pour the tobacco back into the cigar, using scissors ensures a cleaner process compared to tearing the wrapper by hand.
- Some people prefer cutting straight across the wrapper’s opening for easier pouring, but cutting at an angle makes it even simpler.

Crush the tobacco by gently rolling the cigar between your fingers. Essentially, you’ll pour the tobacco from the cigar into the plastic wrapper. Use your fingers to press around the wrapper to ensure the tobacco inside is tightly packed.
- As you do this, some tobacco will fall to the bottom of the wrapper. This is normal. When you roll the cigar, the tobacco inside will shift toward the end.
- Make sure to keep the wrapper smooth and avoid creases or folds during the rolling process to prevent tearing the paper or plastic.

Pull the cigar out gradually. Continue rolling or gently tapping to let the tobacco fall into the plastic wrapper. Proceed slowly and carefully to ensure all the tobacco transfers into the wrapper. Press the tobacco down to create enough space for it all.
- As the tobacco falls out of the Black ‘n Mild, press the plastic filter base to crush any clumped tobacco at the bottom. Do not discard the plastic tip unless you don’t plan to use it for smoking.

Remove the cigar from the plastic wrapper. Once all the tobacco is out, you’ll have a plastic wrapper filled with tobacco and an empty Black ‘n Mild with the paper filter still inside.

Roll the empty cigar to remove the paper filter. Gently roll the empty cigar between your fingertips until the paper filter curls up. Then, use your fingers or nails to grab and discard the filter.
- You can also repurpose the filter. Cut about 2.5 cm of the filter, roll it into a firm ball, and insert it into the cigar before refilling it. This will prevent loose tobacco from entering your mouth while smoking.

Carefully pour the tobacco back into the empty cigar. Slowly refill the cigar, frequently tapping it against a hard surface or using a pen to press the tobacco into the empty shell.
- Be cautious to avoid spilling. It’s challenging to fit all the tobacco back in, so don’t force it, as you might tear the cigar. Some people leave a small space at the end, folding it over to store until ready to smoke, preventing spills.

Brush off loose tobacco from the plastic tip. Once the cigar is refilled and neatly wrapped, you can remove the plastic tip to clean it if desired. Shake or blow away the loose bits before reattaching the tip.
- You can also simply blow away the loose tobacco and reattach the tip. Sometimes, the plastic tip doesn’t fit easily, so it’s best to avoid cleaning it if you plan to smoke with the tip.

Enjoy. Now you can savor your Black ‘n Mild.
Tips
- Avoid tearing the plastic wrapper or ripping past the Black ‘n Mild logo.
- Hold the area where you’ll use a pen to press the tobacco firmly to prevent the paper from creasing or tearing.
- When reattaching the plastic tip, avoid pressing too hard to prevent bending or damaging the cigar.
- Large tobacco pieces may clog the tip; gently tap the plastic tip to loosen them. Over-rolling may tear the cigar.
- Tobacco crumbs can create a mess, so it’s best to use a plate underneath to catch any spills.
Warnings
- Removing the paper filter does not eliminate nicotine, so it doesn’t make smoking any less harmful.
