Ingredients
Oven-Baked Pork Ribs
- 2 racks of pork ribs
- 1 tablespoon oregano
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 2 teaspoons seasoning salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 2 tablespoons black pepper
Serves: 4-6 people | Total time: 3 hours 10 minutes
Southern-Style BBQ Pork Ribs
- 2 kg baby back ribs
- 2 cups sliced onions
- 2 cups tomato sauce
- 2 cups water
- 4 teaspoons salt
- 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 cup white vinegar
- 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
- 4 teaspoons dry mustard
Serves: 6-8 people | Total time: 3 hours 20 minutes
Steps
Traditional Oven-Baked Pork Ribs
Preheat the oven to 120°C.
Combine all dry ingredients in a bowl to create the dry rub.
Evenly coat both sides of the ribs with the mixture. Place the ribs on a plate or baking tray (meat side down) and bake in the oven for 3 hours.
Flip the ribs about 15 minutes before they are fully cooked. When done, the meat should easily pull away from the bone.
Remove the ribs from the oven and let them cool before serving. If of legal age, you can pair the ribs with a dark beer.
Southern-Style BBQ Pork Ribs
Preheat the oven to 175°C.
Separate the ribs by cutting between the bones.
Combine onions, tomato sauce, water, salt, vinegar, sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and mustard in a large bowl. Mix well to create the sauce.
Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the ribs to the pan and sear until both sides are lightly browned.
Place the seared ribs on a large baking tray (meat side down). Pour half of the sauce over the ribs and bake in the oven for about 3 hours.
Remove the ribs from the oven every 30 minutes and baste with the remaining sauce until fully cooked.
Let the ribs cool slightly before serving. When done, the meat should easily separate from the bone.
Finish.
Tips
- If of legal age, you can pair the pork ribs with dark beer or red wine.
- Serve the baked pork ribs with mashed potatoes, sautéed vegetables, and/or a fresh salad.
- Avoid overcooking the ribs, as they can become tough and lose their juiciness.
