Yellow radish, which resembles a carrot in shape, ranges in color from white to light yellow, offering a sweet and nutty flavor, and is a rich source of vitamin C. When cooked, it softens and develops a mild sweetness, making it an ideal choice for many stews. Yellow radish can be enjoyed on its own or cooked with pumpkin, carrots, and other root vegetables. Here are a few common ways to prepare yellow radish:
Ingredients
Oven-Baked Yellow Radish
- 0.2 - 0.5 kg yellow radish
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp dried parsley flakes
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/8 tsp pepper
Fried Yellow Radish
- 6 yellow radishes
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup melted butter
Oven-Dried Yellow Radish
- 1 kg medium-sized yellow radishes
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tsp coarse salt
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tsp chopped fresh Italian parsley
Steps
Oven-Baked Yellow Radish

Preheat the oven to 175°C.
Prepare the yellow radishes. Remove the roots and leaves. Use a brush to scrub off any dirt. Peel the radishes and slice them into long strips, similar to french fries.
Place the radish strips in a 20 cm x 20 cm x 5 cm baking dish without greasing it.

Drizzle 1/4 cup of melted butter over the radishes.

Pour 1/4 cup of water into the baking dish. The radishes must be fully submerged in water to ensure they cook thoroughly while being roasted in the oven.
Sprinkle the seasonings on the radishes. Sprinkle 1/2 tsp of dried oregano, 1/2 tsp of dried parsley flakes, 1/4 tsp of salt, and 1/8 tsp of pepper over the radishes.
Cover the baking dish and roast the radishes for 45 minutes or until they are tender. After approximately 35 minutes, you can test the radishes' doneness by poking them with a fork.

Serve and enjoy. Enjoy the roasted radishes while they are hot. You can serve them on their own or as a side dish for vegetable-based meals like eggplant, or with meat dishes such as chicken.
Fried Yellow Radish

Prepare the yellow radishes. Cut off the roots and stems from 6 yellow radishes. Use a brush to scrub off any dirt from the surface. Peel the radishes and slice them into four long sections.

Fill a large pot with water and immerse the radishes. Cover the pot with a lid.

Boil the radishes over medium heat for about 10 minutes. Continue boiling until the radishes become tender. After 7 minutes, you can test their softness by poking them with a fork. Once cooked, remove the radishes and let them drain.
Pour the flour and salt into a plastic bag. Add 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour and 1/2 teaspoon of salt into the bag and shake it well.
Dip the yellow radishes into 1/2 cup of melted butter, then place them into the plastic bag. Shake the bag so that the radishes are evenly coated with the flour mixture.
Heat the remaining butter in a large pan over medium heat. It should take about 1 minute for the butter to melt and become hot.
Place the radish into the pan and fry until golden brown. After 2-3 minutes, use a spatula to flip the radish and cook the other sides evenly. If you need to cook it longer for a softer texture and a richer golden color, carefully flip the radish with a fork until it reaches the desired consistency.

Enjoy your dish. Serve the crispy golden fried radishes while they are still hot. These can be a great substitute for French fries and pair wonderfully with a sandwich.
Golden Roasted Radish
Preheat the oven to 230°C.
Prepare the golden radish. Wash 1 kg of radish thoroughly with cold water. Then, peel the radishes and cut them diagonally into 1.5 cm thick slices.
Place the golden radish, olive oil, and salt in a bowl. Add 1 kg of golden radish, 2 tablespoons of pure olive oil, and 1 teaspoon of coarse salt into the bowl.
Spread the golden radishes in a thin layer on a rimmed baking tray. Brush 2 tablespoons of melted butter over the radishes.
Bake the radishes for 20 minutes.

Use tongs to flip the radishes and bake for another 15 minutes. Continue baking until the radishes are tender and golden brown. Finally, remove them from the oven and transfer to a plate.

Season the yellow radish by adding pepper, salt, and sprinkle 2 teaspoons of freshly chopped Italian parsley on top of the radish.

Enjoy the roasted radish while it's still hot and crispy.
