"Breezehome" is one of the first houses players can buy in the video game Skyrim. It's available early in the game, right after progressing through the main storyline, and serves as a safe haven for storing items and changing weapons while you explore Whiterun. You can purchase Breezehome for 5000 gold after completing the "Bleak Falls Barrow" quest in the main story.
Steps
Complete "Bleak Falls Barrow"

Start the "Bleak Falls Barrow" quest. This quest is part of the main storyline in Skyrim, and you'll receive it from the wizard Farengar Secret-Fire at Dragonsreach in Whiterun. The quest is given right after completing the "Before the Storm" mission.
- Note: You can make things much easier for yourself by visiting Bleak Falls Barrow before reaching Whiterun. You can begin the Golden Claw quest by talking to Lucan Valerius in Riverwood. This allows you to collect all the necessary items from Bleak Falls Barrow and deliver them to Farengar Secret-Fire as soon as you accept the quest, without needing to backtrack.

Head to Bleak Falls Barrow. This dungeon is located to the south of Whiterun and to the west of Riverwood. Expect to encounter several bandits outside, so make sure to eliminate them before entering. The entrance to Bleak Falls Barrow is at the top of the staircase within the ruins.

Eliminate two bandits in the first room and proceed. Soon, you'll come across a bandit who triggers a lever by mistake, activating a trap that kills him.

Rotate the pillar. You can examine the tablet above the gate and beside the lever to determine the correct sequence to rotate the pillar. Set the pillar to "snake", "snake", and "whale". This will allow you to pull the lever and continue onward.

Free Arvel, then kill him. Deep within the dungeon, you'll find Arvel the Swift trapped in a spider's web. Hitting the web will free him, but he will immediately flee. Try to kill him quickly so you can loot his body with ease. If you hesitate, he will be killed by Draugr or impaled by a spike trap before long.
- Arvel will curl up for a moment after being freed, which is the perfect opportunity to kill him.

Obtain the Golden Claw and use it to solve the puzzle. You'll find this item on Arvel's corpse. The Golden Claw is essential for solving the Three Ring puzzle further inside the dungeon. When you zoom in on the Golden Claw in your inventory, you'll see the correct sequence of rings (from top to bottom: bear, moth, owl).

Read the Word Wall and defeat the dragon. The Word Wall will teach you the Unrelenting Force shout, one of the most useful shouts in the game. After reading the Word Wall, a Draugr Overlord will attack you. Defeat the dragon and obtain the Dragonstone.

Deliver the Dragonstone to the wizard Farengar Secret-Fire at Dragonsreach in Whiterun. This completes the quest and unlocks the ability to purchase a house in Whiterun.
Buy a house

Talk to the Jarl. After completing the quest, speak with the Jarl at Dragonsreach. He will inform you that a house is now available for purchase and direct you to meet Proventus Avenicci.

Find Proventus Avenicci in Whiterun. You can usually find him near the throne in Dragonsreach. If not, he might be in his bedroom or dining in the Great Porch area.
- If you haven't purchased the house before starting the "Battle for Whiterun" quest for the Stormcloaks faction, you'll later need to buy the house from Brill in Dragonsreach.

Buy the house for 5000 gold. Proventus will sell you the house if you agree to pay 5000 gold. If you don't have enough, you can venture into nearby dungeons and sell loot to the merchants in Whiterun to raise the gold.

Purchase furnishings from Proventus. Your house will look quite bare when you first buy it, but you can purchase furniture and decorations from Proventus. Once bought, the furnishings will be delivered to your house automatically.
- You can buy furniture by room. For example: The living room includes 2 weapon racks, 1 bookshelf, 1 cupboard, 1 small table, and 2 small chairs. The bedroom includes 3 end tables, 1 multi-drawer chest, 1 desk, 1 trunk, 2 chairs, and 1 shield rack.

Locate your new home. After purchasing the house, you'll receive the key and can begin using it. The house is called "Breezehome", and you can find it east of "Warmaiden's", just inside the western gate of Whiterun.
Use your house

Store items safely in containers. Many containers in Skyrim are reset after some time, which makes them unsafe for long-term storage of valuable items. However, containers inside your home will never reset, making it a secure place to store all your excess items during your adventures.
- Many players organize different types of items into different containers to make them easier to find later. For example, you can store all your clothing and armor in the bedroom containers, and all crafting materials in the kitchen.
- Weapon racks will automatically store any weapons you've equipped, which is a great way to display more valuable weapons.

Upgrade the kitchen to cook ingredients and make meals. By upgrading the Kitchen, you'll gain access to a Cooking Pot. This allows you to combine ingredients to create more nutritious and health-boosting meals.
- Most recipes require salt as an ingredient.

Upgrade the Alchemy Laboratory to brew potions. The Alchemy Laboratory lets you combine ingredients to brew powerful potions. You can mix up to three ingredients (two base ingredients and one additive) to create useful potions and deadly poisons. The Alchemy Laboratory is the most expensive upgrade, costing 500 gold. You can learn potion-making on your own.
- If you have the "Hearthfire" expansion, you can replace the Alchemy Laboratory with a Children's Bedroom. This enables you to adopt children to live with you. You can learn how to adopt children in Skyrim.

Take advantage of the nearby blacksmith. One of the great things about Breezehome is its proximity to Warmaiden's. This means you can quickly forge and repair your gear without having to search for necessary materials.

Know what you can't do at Breezehome. Breezehome lacks an Enchanting Table and mannequins, meaning you can't enchant your items without a trip to Dragonsreach. Without mannequins, you also can't display your favorite sets of armor. Additionally, Breezehome is fairly far from the Thieves Guild merchant at Honningbrew Meadery.
