Imagine this scenario: you're a skilled Pokémon trainer starting your first journey through the Kanto region. As you step into the tall grass to encounter wild Pokémon, instead of the usual Pidgey or Rattata, you come across... the incredibly powerful Mewtwo? Yes, this can happen when you use the Universal Pokémon Randomizer. This article will guide you on how to use this software to randomize your Pokémon game.
Steps
Download the ROM of the Pokémon game you want to use. Any Pokémon game, from the first generation (Red/Blue/Yellow) to the fifth generation (Black/White/Black 2/White 2), can be randomized.
Download the emulator that corresponds to the Pokémon game you want to play.
Download the Universal Pokémon Randomizer. You can get the program from the official website.
Launch the program and click on "Open ROM." Select the Pokémon ROM you wish to randomize.
Choose the randomization settings you want to apply. The program offers numerous options, including randomizing wild Pokémon, shuffling various Pokémon types, abilities, and movesets, and randomizing the Pokémon used by opponents. Additionally, there are many other settings, such as adjusting the game's font size, altering evolution methods for certain Pokémon, and providing an international Pokédex (an electronic device designed to catalog and provide information on all Pokémon species in the game) at the start of the game.
Click on "Randomize (Save)" to apply your settings and save them to the game ROM.
Tips
- You can combine this program with a difficulty-enhancing tool like the Nuzlocke Challenge to make the game more exciting.
