How to Read Palm Lines

Palmistry, also known as palm reading or hand fortune-telling, is a practice found all around the globe. It traces its origins to the astrological systems of India and the fortune-telling methods of the Romani people. The purpose of palmistry is to evaluate a person’s personality or predict their future by examining the lines on their palm. Whether you’re a palmistry enthusiast or simply looking to pass time and impress friends, you can easily dive into this art by just holding someone’s hand.

Choose a hand. In palmistry, it is believed that:

• For women, the right hand is connected to your destiny, while the left hand reflects the achievements you will make in life.
• For men, the opposite is true. The left hand is associated with fate, and the right hand reveals your life's accomplishments.
• This means you can select the hand that represents your current or past life (the other hand will give you a glimpse into your future).
  • There are differing opinions on this. Some believe that the left hand shows potential and possible events, not necessarily the future. If the two hands show differences, it could mean the person is undergoing or will undergo life-changing actions.

Identify the four major lines. These lines might be interrupted or shorter, but you are sure to have at least three prominent lines on your palm.

Learn about the mounts on the palm. The raised areas beneath the fingers are called mounts, generally opposite the joints of the hand. To see them clearly, curl your hand slightly. Which mount is the most prominent on your hand?

• The Mount of Venus (under the thumb) indicates a tendency towards indulgence, messiness, and the desire for instant gratification. The absence of this mount suggests little concern for family matters.
• The Mount of Jupiter (under the index finger) indicates a commanding personality, possibly self-centered and aggressive. Its absence may signify a lack of self-confidence.
• The Mount of Saturn (under the middle finger) suggests a stubborn, skeptical nature, potentially prone to depression. A low mount indicates superficiality and disorganization.
• The Mount of Apollo (under the ring finger) signifies impatience, arrogance, and a rebellious nature. A low mount suggests a lack of imagination.
• The Mount of Mercury (under the little finger) indicates someone who talks excessively. If it's absent, the person may be quite shy.
  • These guidelines are not scientifically grounded. Your hand will change over time, so don't take them too seriously!

Consider the size of the hand and fingers. Just like body size, many believe small hands suggest a person is active and not overly concerned with the future. Larger hands imply someone who is more contemplative and slow-moving.

• Keep in mind that this is entirely dependent on your body. If you're over 2 meters tall, your hands will naturally be larger than a 4-year-old's. It's all about body proportions.
