This article provides a detailed guide on regaining access to your Yahoo account by using an alternate email address or a recovery phone number. If no recovery email or phone number is linked to your Yahoo account, recovering it will not be possible.
Steps

Visit https://login.yahoo.com/forgot using a web browser. This page will assist you in recovering your Yahoo account by sending a verification code to your recovery email or phone number.
- You must have access to the recovery email or phone number to restore your account. If you cannot access these, you may contact Yahoo's support team for assistance, which may involve a fee. To do this, go to https://help.yahoo.com/kb/account and click Speak with a live agent near the top right corner of the page.
- If you haven't logged into your account for over 12 months, your account may have been permanently deleted from Yahoo's servers.

Enter your Yahoo email address and click Continue. If you don't remember your Yahoo email address, you will need to enter your recovery phone number or email.

You may need to verify your recovery email or phone number. A partial version of the email or phone number may be displayed. If you have access to the email or phone number, click Yes, Send me a verification code. Otherwise, click I don't have access to reveal alternative options.
- If you don't have access to either, you may see a message like "Uh-oh… Looks like we can't recover your account online." To try again with a different email or phone number, click Start Over.
- If verifying a phone number, you may need to enter the missing digits to confirm ownership. If prompted, enter the correct numbers in the blue underlined field and click Submit.

Look for the verification code in your Yahoo email. If you chose email for recovery, open your inbox and locate the Yahoo email. If you provided a phone number, you will receive a text message containing the code.
- If you don't see the Yahoo email in your inbox, check the Spam or Junk folder.

Enter the verification code and click Continue. Your account is now restored. Since you no longer remember your old password, you will be prompted to create a new one.

Click Create a new password.

Type your new password in both fields. Ensure that the passwords entered in both fields match exactly.

Click on Continue. You are now logged into your account with the new password.
- After logging back in, you can adjust recovery options. You may add additional recovery accounts or remove those you no longer have access to by following the on-screen instructions.
Advice
- You can log into a deactivated account within 90 days of deactivation.
- If you previously chose to delete your account, you cannot reverse the deactivation process entirely.
