Rotisserie grilled chicken is incredibly convenient, even if you need to store it in the fridge for a few days before eating. To reheat the chicken, remove it from its packaging and decide whether to use an oven, stovetop, or microwave. Heat until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 74°C, then serve it hot with your favorite side dishes.
Steps
Grilling

Preheat the oven to 177°C and prepare a baking dish. While waiting for the oven to heat up, remove the chicken from its packaging and place it on a microwave-safe dish.

Cover and bake the chicken for 25 minutes. Place the covered dish into the preheated oven. Bake until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 74°C when measured with a meat thermometer.
- Insert the thermometer into the thickest part of the chicken.
- If the dish doesn’t have a lid, you can use aluminum foil to cover it tightly.
Uncover and bake the chicken for an additional 5 minutes to crisp the skin. If you prefer crispy, golden skin, remove the lid or foil and return the dish to the oven.
- Bake for another 5 minutes until the skin turns golden brown.
Pan-frying
Shred or cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces. If you only have a portion of the rotisserie chicken or want to reheat a smaller amount, shred or cut the desired portion into smaller pieces.
- Pieces measuring around 2.5–5 cm are ideal.
Heat 1-3 teaspoons (5-15 ml) of oil over medium-high heat. Use less oil if reheating a small amount of chicken; use more if heating a full pan of chicken.
- Use vegetable oil, canola oil, or coconut oil.
Stir the chicken in the pan and heat for 4-5 minutes. Continue stirring while reheating. Turn off the heat once all the chicken in the pan is thoroughly heated.
- Note that the edges of the chicken pieces may become crispy during pan-frying.
- Pieces that are too small cannot be measured with a meat thermometer. Pan-fry until the chicken is steaming hot.
Reheating in the Microwave

Adjust the microwave power to medium. If the microwave is programmed with percentage levels, set it to 70%.
Place the chicken on a microwave-safe dish. If reheating a whole rotisserie chicken, use a microwave-safe baking dish to catch any drippings.
- To reduce reheating time, shred the chicken into smaller pieces and place them on a microwave-safe dish.
Microwave the chicken for 1.5–5 minutes. For a whole chicken, heat for 5 minutes before checking the internal temperature.
- For shredded chicken, heat for 1.5 minutes before checking the temperature.

Check if the meat has reached 74°C. Insert a meat thermometer into the thickest part of the chicken. For safe consumption, the internal temperature must reach 74°C.

Consider baking the chicken in the oven for 5 minutes if you prefer crispy skin. If you enjoy rotisserie chicken with a crispy exterior, place it in an oven preheated to 177°C.
- Ensure the chicken is on an oven-safe dish and heat for 5 minutes.
