In situations like a sudden power surge, system errors, or if you need to add more dishes after the cycle has started, your GE dishwasher will need to be reset. Simply press the Start/Reset button and wait. If the machine freezes and the button doesn't work, you will need to restart the device by disconnecting it from the power source, waiting a moment, and then reconnecting it.
Steps
Resetting while the cycle is running

Press the Start/Reset button to cancel the cycle. If the machine is in the middle of a cycle or if you started it but forgot to add dishes, resetting is necessary. For dishwashers with a front panel, press the Start/Reset button. If using a dishwasher with a top-mounted control panel, carefully open the top cover and press the Start/Reset button, then close the cover again. Dishes can be added at any time, as long as it’s before the main wash phase.

Wait 2 minutes for the water to be fully drained. You need to wait a moment before opening the machine to add more dishes. During this time, the indicator light will flash to signal that the machine is resetting. Only once the light stops flashing should you begin a new cycle.

Open the door and carefully add the dishes. Hot water or steam may cause burns. After adding the dishes, close the door securely and press the Start button to begin a new cycle.
Restart the dishwasher

Only use the restart as a last resort. This is a manual reset process, so it should not be done frequently. Always try using the Start/Reset button first. If the buttons don’t work and the machine won’t reset, then you can try restarting it.

Unplug the device to disconnect it from the power source. If you can access the power cord, unplug it carefully. This will erase the current settings causing the error and restart the device completely.

Turn off the dishwasher's power using the circuit breaker or fuse box. If you're having difficulty reaching the power cord, you can also disconnect the power via the main control panel. If the circuit breaker or fuse box is not nearby, you may need to move around a bit. Note: only disconnect the power in the area where the dishwasher is placed.

Wait 30 seconds to 10 minutes before turning the power back on. While GE recommends waiting only 30 seconds before plugging in or turning the power back on, sometimes the machine may need a longer break. Disconnect the power for about 10 minutes and then turn it on again. The dishwasher should resume normal operation.
