Today, Mytour will guide you on how to reconnect your Vizio remote control by either resetting its energy cycle or clearing its memory. In some cases, simply troubleshooting performance issues with the remote may resolve the problem, eliminating the need for a reset.
Steps
Reset the remote's energy cycle

Remove the remote's batteries. The batteries are typically located in the compartment at the bottom or back of the remote.

Press and hold the power button on the remote. This button is usually located at the front of the remote control.

Release the power button after five seconds. This will allow any remaining power to drain from the remote.

Press each individual button on the remote at least once. This will help unstick any buttons and return them to their normal position.

Replace the remote's batteries. If the batteries are brand new, simply reinsert them into their original position.

Test the remote. If the issue was due to a firmware update or excessive use, the remote should start working again.
- If this process does not work, you can perform a power cycle for both the remote and the TV. To do this, unplug the TV, hold down the power button for five seconds, then plug the TV back in and turn it on.
Reset the remote's memory

Press and hold the SET or SETUP. This button is usually located at the top-left corner of the remote control.
- This method might not work with non-universal remotes.
- Once the remote's memory is cleared, you need to reprogram it to work with other devices (such as a DVD player) since these connections will also be reset.

Release the SET button when the LED blinks twice. The LED on most Vizio remotes is located at the front of the remote control.

Press 9 8 1. This is the reset code for most universal Vizio remotes.
- If 9 8 1 doesn't work, try entering the code 9 7 7.
- You can find the reset code in the remote's manual.

Wait for the LED to blink twice. The two blinks indicate that the memory on your Vizio universal remote has been cleared. Any firmware issues should be resolved after this step.
Troubleshoot connection issues

Remove any obstacles blocking the TV's sensor. Even transparent objects can obstruct the infrared signal from the remote control.
- The protective plastic around the new TV is no exception.
- The infrared sensor is usually located on the lower-right or lower-left corner of the TV's surface.

Ensure that the remote’s batteries are fresh. We often forget to replace the batteries in our electronic devices, so it’s crucial that the batteries in your remote are new for optimal performance.
- It’s also recommended to use high-quality batteries (e.g., Duracell or Energizer).

Test the remote with a different Vizio TV. If the TV responds to a different Vizio remote, then your current remote may need replacing or upgrading.
- Similarly, if your remote works with another TV, then the issue likely lies with the remote itself.

Contact Vizio customer support. You can do this by calling 1 (855) 833-3221. If your remote simply isn’t working, you may qualify for a free replacement.
- If necessary, you can also purchase a new Vizio remote at local stores or tech retailers (e.g., Walmart or Best Buy).
Advice
- Devices often experience issues when using an old Vizio remote with a new Vizio TV.
Warning
