Do you need to recover someone's Facebook password for an urgent reason? You can reset the password using Facebook's Trusted Contacts feature. This tool allows you to access another person's Facebook password and log into their account. However, this method is only effective in specific scenarios outlined below. Continue reading to learn how to retrieve someone's Facebook password using their email address and the Trusted Contacts feature.
Steps
Accessing Someone Else's Account

Visit https://www.facebook.com using a web browser. You can do this on any browser, whether on a computer, phone, or tablet. While there's no legal way to obtain someone's Facebook password, you can log into their account if you have access to their email and messages. If the person has added trusted contacts (and you know who they are/how to contact them), this method can help you use the feature to access their account.
- Use this approach if you're a close friend or relative of someone who is missing, in trouble, or has asked you to access their account for a specific reason.
- If you're already logged into your account, log out by clicking the downward arrow in the top-right corner and selecting Log Out.

Click on Forgot password?. This option is located below the "Log In" button on the right side of the page.

Enter the user's email address or phone number and click Search. You will see options to regain access to the account.

Click on No longer have access to these?. This is a small link at the bottom of the page.
- If you do have access to the person's email or phone number, select the option you can access and follow the on-screen instructions to receive a verification code. This code will help you regain access to the account.
Enter an email address you can access and click Continue. If successful, a password reset link will be sent to the email or phone number you provided.

Click on Reveal My Trusted Contacts. This is the gray button at the top of the page.
- Facebook encourages users to designate trusted contacts for their accounts in case they get locked out. If the person has designated you (or someone you both know) as a trusted contact, you can log into their account.

Enter the full name of the trusted contact and click Confirm. If your friend has designated you as a trusted contact, enter your name here. Otherwise, input the name of the trusted contact willing to help you access the account. Ensure the name matches the one displayed on Facebook.
- If the person has listed the entered name as a trusted contact, you will see all trusted contacts along with their URLs.

Ask the trusted contacts for assistance. Now, you need each trusted contact to follow specific steps to generate a code. Once you have codes from all trusted contacts, you can log into the account.
- Call or message each trusted contact and guide them to visit https://www.facebook.com/recover and log in. This process generates a code they will share with you.
- If you are one of the trusted contacts, you must also complete this step. However, you need to log into your own Facebook account to proceed.
- Enter the codes provided by the trusted contacts and click Continue.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to reset the password and access the account.

Follow the on-screen instructions to try an alternative method. If you cannot access the account using the previous step, you will see a notification stating that login is impossible without access to the associated email or phone number. If other options are available, such as answering security questions or identifying some of the person's friends, follow the prompts to regain access.
- If you still cannot access the account, check for a password file on the person's computer. It might be named "Passwords" or "Mật khẩu" if they created one.
- If you need to access the account of someone missing or involved in a legal matter, contact local authorities. Law enforcement can access a user's Facebook account with the appropriate warrant.
Setting Up Trusted Contacts

Log in to https://www.facebook.com using a web browser. Adding 3-5 friends as trusted contacts can be helpful if your account gets locked. If you cannot log in, one of the trusted contacts can generate a recovery code to help you reset your password and regain access.

Click on the ▼ menu. This is the downward-facing triangle located at the top-right corner of Facebook.

Click on Settings & Privacy. This will reveal additional settings options.

Click on Settings in the menu. This will take you to your Facebook account settings.

Click on the Security and Login tab. This is the first option in the left-hand panel.

Click on Edit next to "Choose 3 to 5 friends to contact if you get locked out." This option is located at the bottom of the page under the "Setting Up Extra Security" section.

Click on Choose friends. The screen will immediately display information about using trusted contacts.
- If you have already set up trusted contacts, you can click Edit to make changes.

Click on Choose Trusted Contacts. You can now assign friends as trusted contacts.

Enter 3 to 5 trusted contacts. Type the name of the first person you want to add, then click on their name in the search results. You need to add at least 3 contacts, but no more than 5.
- The designated trusted contacts will receive a notification once you complete this step.

Click on Confirm. The selected friends are now your trusted contacts. You can edit this list anytime by clicking Edit on the list.

Log into your account. If your account is locked and you need help from trusted contacts, follow these steps:
- Click Forgot password? on the Facebook login page, then follow the on-screen instructions to search for your account by entering your email or phone number.
- If you cannot access the listed account, click No longer have access to these?.
- Enter a new email address you can access and click Continue.
- Click Reveal My Trusted Contacts and enter the name of one of the friends you added. You will see all your trusted contacts here.
- Send the link to your trusted contacts via email or message and ask them to view the information. Once they log into their account, they will be prompted to send you a code to regain access to your account.
- Enter the codes from each contact and click Continue. This will allow you to log back into your account.
Protecting Your Password
Enable two-factor authentication. This feature can block nearly all unauthorized attempts to access your account. When Facebook detects a login from a new device, your phone will receive a code that you need to enter to log in. Without this code, strangers cannot access your account.
- Log into your Facebook account.
- Click the downward arrow in the top-right corner to open the menu.
- Click Settings & Privacy and select Settings.
- Click the Security and Login tab on the left.
- Click Edit next to "Use two-factor authentication."
- Choose an authentication method and follow the on-screen instructions.

Use a unique password. Avoid using names, birthdays, addresses, or common words in your password, as these are easy to guess. Your password should be at least 8 characters long and include a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters. The longer and more complex the password, the harder it is to crack.

Use different passwords for each online account. If you use the same password for your email, online banking, and Facebook, someone who discovers one of your passwords can easily steal all your information.

Always log out of your Facebook account. This is especially important when logging in from someone else's computer, phone, or tablet. If others have access to your device, make sure to log out of your account as well.

Use a firewall and anti-malware software. Ensure your antivirus and anti-malware programs are up to date, and only log into Facebook when your firewall is active. If your computer's security features are enabled, you will be notified if someone attempts to install keylogging software to steal your password.
Warning
- Accessing someone else's Facebook account without permission is a violation of privacy and illegal. Consider this carefully before taking any action.
