Research has shown that for many, the idea of returning to childhood is quite comforting, enjoyable, and completely natural. If you're curious about how to go back to being a child, you can learn to speak, behave, and dress like a young child, all in good fun. Follow step 1 to start the process.
Steps
Babbling like a baby

Relearn how to cry like a baby. Cry when you're hungry, thirsty, or tired. Every child shares the common trait of crying loudly. Cry when you get dirty, cry when you drop your pacifier, or even cry for no reason at all.
- Try to vary the type of cry. Whimper and scream for a while to release emotions, then switch from wailing to soft sobbing. Once you’ve gotten attention, you should pause briefly, then continue crying.
- If you can cry on command, it’s actually a great way to relieve stress. Studies suggest that the stress hormones secreted from the tear glands help trigger the production of happiness hormones, leading to a feeling of relaxation and contentment after the tears have passed.

Babble Continuously. When mimicking a baby, avoid using too many words and instead focus on babbling sounds, as if you're trying to learn to speak. Remember how you used to babble baba mama when you were little?
- Try to imitate what others say as if you're practicing pronunciation. Don’t pronounce everything perfectly. Mispronouncing can be a good excuse to keep crying when you get frustrated by not speaking clearly.
- Continue your babbling. Babies between 3 and 6 months start their first babbling sounds, mostly "mama", "tata", and later even "papa". By the time they’re 2, most children have a vocabulary of 50 words, can form a few short sentences, and understand a lot of other words.

Singing. A great way to make noise is by singing simple tunes and children's songs. You’ll need to know a few lullabies, folk songs, and nursery rhymes. You might not be able to sing the lyrics clearly since you’re pretending to be a baby, but you can still hum along and make up words.
- "Cháu lên ba" and "Mẹ yêu không nào" are just two of the many classic children’s songs, but for variety, try some really fun ones like "Bắc kim thang" or "Baby Shark". Baby singing videos are incredibly popular on YouTube and Vines. If you need inspiration, just watch a few videos of children dancing.
Imitating Children

Play. When imitating a baby, you should spend most of your time playing, as this is the primary learning method in a child's world. Babies tend to like smooth, round objects like plastic rings, easy-to-hold toys, or things that make sounds like rattles, drums, and bells. Even simple pictures will attract them and keep their gaze for a long time.
- Before learning to speak, babies try to explore the world as much as possible through their sight and touch, literally fumbling around to find their way. While playing, they spend most of their time exploring objects with their sense of touch rather than imagining plots and scenarios to control action figures or wooden puzzles like older children do.
- When playing the role of a baby, don't worry about playing exactly like a real baby. Just focus on feeling the objects around you and imagining that it’s your first time seeing them. Reconnect with your "inner child".

Act Surprised and Bewildered by Everything You See. When pretending to be a baby, it’s important to really put yourself in the mindset of a child. Imagine that everything you see is new. Stare at the bed or your pet for a long time. Try to figure out what happened to the pacifier. Your hand gestures should express surprise and unfamiliarity. Wiggle your toes, kick, or roll around. If you can fool yourself into feeling surprised, you’re on your way to reclaiming your "inner child" and acting like a baby.

Sleep More During the Day. Children typically sleep a lot, so pretending to be a baby is the perfect excuse to take more naps during the day. Sleeping is a great way to mimic a baby. Try taking a one-hour nap around noon or early afternoon. Newborns tend to sleep between 10.5 to 18 hours a day, with a regular sleep pattern (minus a few hours) starting around 6 months old.

Use a Pacifier. To calm babies, they are often given a plastic pacifier, simulating the act of breastfeeding. Sucking on a pacifier while taking a nap or resting at night brings comfort and takes you back to childhood.
- Children often discover that their fingers can substitute a pacifier. This is one of the significant milestones of independence in a baby’s development when they no longer need to rely on parents for soothing.
- You can suck your thumb if you like, as it feels quite soothing.
Start Crawling. Crawl around or try crawling clumsily. Babies don’t walk or run like adults—they mostly crawl to learn balance. Place your hands and knees on the floor and crawl around as if you’re learning how to walk.
- Sometimes, babies will scoot by sitting down and stretching their legs out, then pulling them back in to move forward. This funny behavior is a way to imitate a baby.

Eat Baby Food. If you want to enter the magical world of childhood, you have to eat with a spoon. Baby food is usually a mix of vegetables, pureed meat, and essential vitamins for a baby’s growth during their early years. However, it's basically food you’ve already eaten, just pureed. Opt for foods like apple sauce, yogurt, sliced bananas, and other small-sized snacks.
- Baby food is often calorie-dense and quite bland. To create a similar taste for adults, try blending vegetables like carrots, potatoes, or beets and mixing them with porridge. Let it cool, then eat with a spoon like a baby. You can add seasoning if you like and sit in a high chair to enjoy it. If nothing tastes right, don’t worry or force yourself to eat something hard to swallow. Try some sweet desserts instead. Remember, it’s about having fun and feeling relaxed.
- Place food on a tray with multiple compartments and eat with your hands. Don’t worry about making a mess—this is inevitable. Don’t use any kitchen utensils.

Drink Like a Baby. Pour juice, milk, or other drinks into a sippy cup with a lid to prevent spills and avoid drinking too fast, or use a baby bottle to complete the baby-like experience.
- Drink regular cow’s milk or other beverages instead of formula, as it’s much harder to digest for someone of your adult age.

Watch Children's Programs on TV. A fun way to talk like a child is by watching and trying to immerse yourself in interactive kids' TV shows. Programs like Anhxtanh Nhí or those aired in the early morning are often aimed at very young children who can’t speak yet. This is a perfect way to return to being a child and enjoy carefree playfulness.
Dress Like a Child
Wear Children's Clothing. Most children’s clothes are simple onesies or one-piece outfits. These are typical garments worn by kids. However, these clothes are also tailored in adult sizes to help you dress in a child-like manner, no matter your size.
- Kids are drawn to 'bright colors.' Vibrant pinks, yellows, and light blues/greens are usually more attractive than white, gray, or black. Try wearing soft, pastel-colored fabrics for a few days. If you’re female, opt for a soft pink, while males can go for a soft blue (sometimes called 'light pink' and 'light blue').
- It’s hard to find large-sized footed pajamas for babies, but full-body onesies are widely available, especially in pet stores or rural clothing shops. These cozy, full-body undergarments are comfortable and warm. Overalls and one-piece outfits in large sizes for babies are easy to find and quite fashionable.
- Children also love wearing cute, graphic t-shirts, so you can imagine pairing a goofy dog print tee with some accessories. You could even try making your own oversized overalls to wear.

Choose Baby Accessories. To complete the baby look, you need the right accessories. No phones, belts, or watches here. Replace those with a sippy cup, baby bottle, and pacifier.
- Before fully embracing your baby behavior, you need a few baby essentials like scented baby lotion, talcum powder, and diaper rash cream. The distinctive scent of babies or milk will instantly fill the air after using these products.
- Grab some baby wipes for makeup removal or just for cleaning your hands and face. The lingering scent of newborns will stay with you long after you’ve used them.
Carry a Blanket or Stuffed Toy. Crib toys used to soothe babies have become an important part of their cognitive development, as many babies cry when their beloved toys are taken away or lost. Carrying a blanket or stuffed toy helps you relax and adds to your innocence.
- Most children don’t carry around random stuffed animals or old blankets, as the item they bring everywhere must be something truly special. Find that special item and make it your inseparable companion.
