Saving a webpage can be very helpful if you plan to revisit it offline or if you wish to capture and preserve its content without worrying about it being changed or deleted later. All web browsers have the ability to save pages for offline viewing, and you can even use special programs to download the entire website along with all its linked pages.
Steps
On a Desktop Browser

Open the website you want to save. Any web browser can quickly save the webpage you're viewing. Once saved, you will be able to access this page anytime, even when offline. You can also explore online for ways to save an entire website along with all linked pages.

Open the "Save Page As" window. All browsers have the capability to save a webpage along with all its multimedia content. You can quickly open this window by pressing Ctrl/⌘ Cmd+S, or follow these steps:
- Chrome - Click the Chrome menu button (☰) and select "Save Page As".
- Internet Explorer - Click the gear icon, select "File", and then click "Save As". If the gear icon is not visible, click "File" and choose "Save As".
- Firefox - Click the Firefox menu button (☰) and select "Save Page".
- Safari - Click the "File" menu and select "Save As".

Give the page a name. By default, the file will take the same name as the page title.

Choose a location to save the page. After saving, the HTML file of the page will be stored here along with a folder containing all the multimedia content from the page (if you choose to save the entire page).

Select whether you want to save the full page or just the HTML language. In the "Save as type" menu, you can choose between "Webpage, Complete" or "Webpage, HTML Only". Choosing to save the complete page will download all multimedia content into a separate folder. This way, you can view images offline.
- Internet Explorer users can choose "Web Archive, single file (*.mht)". This format allows Microsoft to store all data from the webpage into a single compressed file. Although .mht files are easiest to open in Internet Explorer, this format makes it much simpler to save multiple webpages.

Open the saved webpage. The HTML file will be located in the folder you specified. When you double-click on the file, the saved page will open in your default web browser, whether or not your computer is connected to the internet.
- Ensure that the multimedia folder is always in the same location as the .html file. If this folder is elsewhere, the page won't load the images.
- If you're offline and the saved page contains streaming video, the video won't play until you're connected to the internet.
On iOS

Use Safari on your iOS device to open the website you want to save. You can save any website for offline viewing, which is especially useful when you're on the go or expect to travel without an internet connection.
- This feature is only available on iOS 7 and later.

Tap the Share button. This option is located at the bottom (for iPhone and iPod) or at the top of the screen (for iPad). The Share button looks like a square with an upward-pointing arrow.

Tap the "Add to Reading List" button from the Share menu. The "Add to Reading List" button has a glasses icon and is located next to the "Add Bookmark" option.
- Do not close the tab until the page has been successfully added to the Reading List. Larger pages may take longer to save completely. Once the page is fully loaded, you can safely close the tab.

Access saved pages in the Reading List. You can view your Reading List even when offline. Tap the Bookmarks button in Safari and then tap the tab with the glasses icon to see all pages saved to your Reading List.
- The Bookmarks button is usually located next to the address bar and has an icon of an open book.

Tap the page you wish to open. If you're offline, the page might appear slightly different than usual. This happens because when a page is saved for offline reading, unnecessary data such as background colors are removed.

Scroll down to move to the next item. Once you reach the bottom of the page, you can continue scrolling to jump to the next item in your Reading List.

Switch between read and unread items. Tap the 'Show All' or 'Show Unread' button at the bottom of your Reading List to toggle between all pages or just the unread ones.

Swipe items in the Reading List to the left to delete. Once you've finished reading a page, you can remove it from the list by swiping left on the item and tapping 'Delete'.

Update your device if the Reading List isn't working correctly. Some users encountered issues with iOS 8 where pages in the Reading List wouldn't load offline. You can update to iOS 8.0.1 or adjust settings to resolve the issue.
- Open the Settings app and select 'General'.
- Tap 'Software Update' and then 'Install Update' once your device finds an available update.
On Android
Use Chrome on your Android device to open the website you want to save. Although you can't bookmark a webpage for offline viewing like you can with Safari on iOS, you can save pages as PDF files for later access and even follow links within them.
- Android browsers typically offer an offline viewing option. Open the browser's menu by tapping the (⋮) button and select 'Save for offline viewing.' Not all Android browsers have this option.

Tap the Chrome menu button (⋮) and select 'Print'. This action will 'print' the webpage as a PDF file.

Tap the dropdown menu and select 'Save as PDF'. The page and all its links will be preserved in the PDF file saved on your device.

Tap the 'Save' button. The Downloads menu will open. Select the 'Downloads' option in the left panel.

Give this page a name. By default, the file will be saved with the webpage's title. You can change it by tapping the name and entering a new one.

Tap the 'Save' button. The PDF file will be saved to your device.

Open the Downloads app on your device. A list of all the files you've downloaded will appear.

Tap the PDF file you just saved. You'll be prompted to choose an app to open the file with.

Read the webpage. When you tap any link within the PDF file, the content will open in the browser (if your device is connected to the internet).
Store the entire website

Download and install HTTrack. HTTrack is an open-source website copying program that allows users to save every page and most media of an entire website while preserving all links. It also builds a folder structure for all content. Accessing the page offline will enable you to follow all links on the page, as long as they originally pointed to content hosted on the same server.
- You can download HTTrack for free at httrack.com. The software is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux.

Launch HTTrack and create a new project. HTTrack stores each page you've saved as a 'project.' This allows you to easily select and update stored pages as needed.

Name the project and choose the storage location. HTTrack recommends creating a folder for the entire website you're saving, then naming each individual page. The program will create separate folders for each project within the main directory.

Select "Download web site(s)" and enter the URL. To save the entire website, you must begin by entering the base address of the site.

Click the "Finish" or "Start" button to begin copying the website. The progress bar will appear once HTTrack starts downloading the entire website content. This process can take a considerable amount of time, especially for large websites or slow connections.
- By default, HTTrack will follow all links on the website and download any content found (as long as it is from the same website). This prevents HTTrack from downloading content from the entire internet.

View the saved page. Once the saving process is complete, you can open the project folder and run the website's .html file. You will be able to navigate through all the pages, even offline.
- If there are streaming videos on the page, you will not be able to view them without a network connection.
Tip
- You can save a website if you need to move or if you won't have access to Wi-Fi or an Internet connection for a long time. You will be able to access the saved website at any time without needing an Internet connection.
- Saving a website is also useful when you need to preserve important information, for reference, or for future access. When you save a website, the content on the page is captured indefinitely, even if the administrator edits or removes the content later on.
