If you need to send a message to someone, or even to yourself, but don’t have your phone nearby, this is entirely possible using email or a wide variety of messaging services.
Steps
Using email
Open your email service or app.
Compose a new message.
The recipient's address should begin with their phone number (including the area code) written consecutively. For example, for the phone number (555)555-1234, it would be written as 5555551234@.

Send the message. You can send the message just like a regular email. The recipient will receive the message within seconds.
Use a website
Find a website to send free messages. There are many services that allow you to send messages from your web browser to a phone. Some popular websites include:

- TXT2Day
Beware of spam messages. Using these websites might cause the recipient's device to receive numerous spam messages. Be sure to review the website's privacy terms to confirm that your information won't be stolen.
Select the country. Use the dropdown menu to choose the recipient's country.
Enter the phone number. Type the phone number and the area code continuously.
Enter the message. Depending on the service you've selected, you usually have 130-160 characters to use.
Send the message. The message will reach the recipient in just a moment.
Use a messaging app
Download the app that suits your phone. iMessage is pre-installed for iPhone users. For Android users, Hangouts (formerly Talk) is built-in. These apps allow you to send messages to users on different platforms.
- There are many other apps with similar functionality, such as Skype.
Run the corresponding app on your computer. To use Hangouts on a PC, visit Hangout's website and download the extension. To use iMessage on a computer, you must have a Mac with OS X 10.8 or later. The Messages icon is located in the Dock.
- You’ll need to log in with the appropriate account (Google account, Apple ID, or Microsoft account).
Send your message. Select the recipient from your contacts or search by name. You can also type your own name to send a message to yourself.
