Beyond sending text messages, Facebook Messenger offers a variety of features. With the built-in camera, you can easily capture photos, record videos, and send them directly to your friends, or share images and videos from your phone's gallery.
Steps
Capture and Send Photos or Videos

Open a chat with the person you want to send a photo or video to. You can either send existing photos and videos from your phone or quickly capture and record content to send directly via Messenger. All of these functions are available within the chat window.

Tap the "Camera" icon if you want to capture a photo or record a video directly. The camera icon in the message composition area allows you to take pictures or shoot videos and send them instantly to the recipient within the chat.
- When using this feature for the first time, you might be asked to grant Messenger permission to access your device's camera. Messenger can only perform this function with your access approval.
- You can switch between the front and rear cameras by tapping the icon in the bottom-right corner.

Press the circular button in the center to capture a photo. Then tap the "Send" button to share the photo within the chat.

Hold the capture button to record a video. You can record videos up to 15 seconds long. Afterward, tap the "Send" button to send the video in the chat.
- If you wish to cancel the video recording, simply lift your finger off the capture button.
Send Photos and Videos Stored on Your Device

Open a conversation with the person you wish to send photos or videos to. You can send previously captured photos and videos that you have stored on your device.

Tap the "Gallery" icon. This will display all the photos and videos you've previously captured or saved on your device. You can send both images and videos from here.

Select the photo or video you wish to send. Once selected, two icons will appear over the chosen image or video.

Tap the "Pencil" icon to edit the photo or trim the video. This feature allows you to draw, add text to photos, and trim videos.
- The video trimming feature is currently only available on devices running the Android operating system.

Send the selected photo or video. After making your selection, click the "Send" button to share the media in your chat.
- If sending large videos, it’s advisable to connect to a Wi-Fi network to save on data usage.
Tips
- Photos you upload in a Messenger chat will not be added to your Facebook photo album.
