Today, Mytour will guide you on how to send videos on Discord. However, the maximum file size limit is 8MB unless you upgrade to Nitro, which increases the limit to 50MB. To overcome this restriction, you can upload your video to another video-sharing platform, such as YouTube.
Steps
On Discord

Open Discord. The application is usually located in the Start menu or the Applications folder. You can also use the mobile app by accessing the home screen, app drawer, or search function.
- Log in if prompted.

Navigate to the conversation where you want to share the video. This could be a server chat or a private message.

Click or tap the plus (+) icon in the chat field. It is usually located to the left of the text input area. A file browser will open.
- If using the mobile app, a list of icons will appear. Tap the third icon from the left, which resembles a folded paper corner. A list of all files, including videos, will be displayed.

Locate the video you want to send and double-click it. On the app, a green checkmark will appear next to the selected video.

Click Upload. You can mark the video as a spoiler if needed and add a comment.
- On the app, tap the blue paper airplane icon above the file selection window.
- Files (with a maximum size of 8MB, or 50MB if upgraded) will be uploaded to the chat. Most video formats like .mov and .mp4 are supported.
On YouTube

Log in to YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/. You can automatically upload videos up to 15 minutes long. For longer videos, you’ll need to verify your account. If your account isn’t verified, a notification will appear on the app or website prompting you to complete the verification process.
- You can also use the YouTube mobile app located on your home screen or app drawer. If the app isn’t installed, you can download it for free from the App Store or Google Play Store.
- This method allows you to upload videos larger than 8MB and then share the link on Discord.

Click the video camera icon at the top right of the browser, next to your profile picture.
- If using the mobile app, this icon will also be located at the top right corner of the screen.

Click Upload Video. For app users, a page with the GO LIVE option or the option to select a video from your library will appear. Tap on the video in your library to upload it.

Set the privacy settings for your video. Click Public to open a menu and choose between Public, Unlisted, Private, or Scheduled.
- On the mobile app, privacy settings, along with the video’s name and description, are located below the preview. You may need to swipe up from the bottom of the screen to see more options.

Drag and drop the video into the browser. Alternatively, click the main window to open the file browser and locate the file manually. Supported formats include .MOV, .MPEG4, .MP4, .AVI, .WMV, .MPEGPS, .FLV, 3GPP, WebM, DNxHR, ProRes, CineForm, and HEVC (h265). Once you select or drop the file into the browser, the video will begin uploading.
- The app also offers options to add filters or edit the video. When ready to upload, tap the paper airplane icon at the top right corner of the app.

Enter video details. This includes the video title, description, and tags. You can also select a thumbnail by clicking one of the suggestions below the text field.
- Navigate through the Basic Info, Translations, and Advanced settings tabs to add more details. A preview and the video link will appear on the left.
- You can copy the video link here.

Click Done. On the website, you’ll be redirected to the Upload Complete page with the thumbnail and video link. this link to share with friends on Discord.
- On the app, you’ll be taken to your uploaded videos library after the upload finishes. Tap the menu icon (three dots) next to the video and select Share to get the link or share via email.

Share the link on Discord. Return to your Discord conversation or chat channel and paste the link you copied earlier. Your friends on Discord will see the link to the video you shared.
